  1. Thought I remembered reading in one of their filings that something like 50-60% of their total annual revenue comes from the Adelaide event.
  2. Bingo. It doesnt matter if it took them two years, it only takes one 'yes' signature.
  3. Also I do want to add - for all the people just lurking in this thread, please dont listen to us. Go to BD. Do everything you can to get out there. Its worth every minute of effort you put into it. Chances are more than good that you will go on your first trip and not notice one single thing out of place. You will go out there and just spend every single minute being out-of-your-mind happy and you will think everyone in here is insane. Just go.
  4. Really? Its laughable? I ignore most of the revenue talk for the time being because of all the videos I've watched that Sam has done I cant even make the math work for ~160,000 units. I cant on one hand see/hear him talk about how much time and effort goes into every putter - 10x more time than their competitors - and on the other hand somehow picture 750+ units a day coming out of that shop (assuming they are closed weekends). I...dont think you can have both. Either they are *moving* putters out of there and his talk is just talk or else they really do take the time they take and maybe those sales numbers are puffed up. Again, the shop to me looks like a high, high end operation so I'd lean towards the latter.
  5. Good point, honestly did not even think of that - makes much more sense.
  6. I hear what you're saying and get the frustration. But to be fair, that phrase is over 25 years old now. Things/business/life changes. Its been 25 years of people getting beaten over the head with how great BD is, 25 years of articles and videos and reviews about how we needed to go to BD. I think this was inevitable. I dont think any company is doing business the same way they were 25 years ago. Personally I guess its just what bothers you. To me I'm just as bothered by the ubercoolgolfguy carrying his Mackenzie bag and trestle sticks and loudly acting like an jack-a than I am with someone from Toyota. I guess I just dont care where they come from or what group they are with. Chances are pretty good some of those guys are pretty jacked to be there. And...I dont want to say I dont believe some of the stories here. Thats not it. But I think to some extent we're making it cool to complain about stuff like this when the reality probably is, 99.99% of people that go there either dont get bothered by stuff like this or dont even notice.
  7. I make it a point to come in this forum once every ten years so...so please know I already regret this post. First, I'll just say that this is a terribly edited video - its really bad. There are some really old clips kluged with some newer ones, I couldn't make it through more than 3 minutes of it before skipping through. There seems to be no continuity, she really needs a better editor. I've worked with Erika off and on the last ten years or so. We've done everything from short/mid yardage short game work entirely through feel to dual force plates/Trackman work to Aimpoint classes that she taught at my club. I typically hate using too many tech/gadgets during a lesson but she sort of changed my mind on that. Not entirely - but I'm coming around. Whatever I had been doing wasn't working so I had to at least be willing to try something new. And I know thats impossible for some people to believe - that there's more than one way of doing business. She does a lot of beginner clinics/camps and - dont freak out - but not everyone wants to nerd out that much about golf, which I think is fine. BTW I think the doctor metaphor is a terrible one but hey its refreshing to see not much has changed in here.
  8. Good point, I know there are a bunch of tsunami warning street signs on the roads in that town...sort of before you get to the dunes area - in fact I think the art gallery was called the Tsunami Art Exhibit or something like that. I could definitely see it being a concern in that area.
  9. Probably juse a question of resale value? Saw a couple of Sub70 sets this summer at 2nd Swing in the $250-300 range. For some of these DTC brands I'm not sure how much Cally could offer in value to make it worth their time at that rate.
  10. The resort or the town? The resort itself is the safest place you can be, waves would have to be, I dont know, 150 feet high to make a dent in those cliffs? And if theres a 150 foot wave racing for shore they probably have bigger problems LOL.
  11. Yep. Just watching some of the YouTube reviews is enough to get you to never pay 3x for an American made one. My guess is that LAB will look at the cost outlay and realize its just not worth it milling the heads at a shop down the road just so you can say they are made in the USA. You can make them in China for 1/10th the cost and maybe you still market them as "assembled" in the USA. Suddenly your margins have gone through the rood and the quality is high enough that no one can tell. Or cares. Just look on Ali Express/Temu or watch some reviews of the knockoffs. These putters are already being cloned to a "good enough" level - and thats without the company being involved.
  12. To your first point, I know they dont mill the heads at their HQ but even just assembly you're talking...438 putters a day going out the door 365 days a year? OK, maybe the heads could be milled. But the assembly of that many? I dont know. I went back and rewatched the video I saw where Sam said their labor time were 10x what their competitors were because every one has to be balanced. Every putter goes through a dozen employees. Their shop looks like such a high end, high quality, high QC operation...I dont know how they move 400+ putters through there a day. But second, if you did that much, thats close to $100M in revenue? Would be interested to hear how having books like that couldn't attract better finance options.
  13. I'd put some of the No Laying Up long form travel stuff up against any golf documentary or show on TGC - past or current...if they even still have shows.
  14. Haven't people already said the "increased purse" thing is mostly bunk - the money is going to the team payouts but the teams are also footing more of their expenses?
