I’ve built a couple of sets of ts4s comboed w te+ in long irons, very nice looking set, and work well together. The TS3s are better inmho as a standalone set.

I have some, but I am not the target audience for this grip, which I think is geared more towards the full cord crowd. I find them to feel hard and somewhat plastic-y. I wish Star would put their sidewinder pattern on their tour star less taper grip. Love the shape of the tour star, but just too slippery in the non-gloved thumb and trigger finger for me. They make great grips though, and I played sidewinders for years but prefer a reduced taper profile now as arthritis advances.

Very common , for Mizuno. I played their irons for 20 years, and have ordered probably 30 sets of irons for myself and friends over the years. I have always checked clubs I order on my Mitchell, because you never know who checked your set after assembly, regardless of manufacturer. Not one Mizuno iron set was ever correct, and most were off in different directions by iron. Don’t get me wrong, Mizuno irons are f’ng fantastic, but their quality control historically for me has been abysmal. Ping has been much better in my experience, with Titleist, Taylormade and Callaway better but with occasional issues. Your mileage may vary, just my experience over the last 30 years.

I am VERY sensitive to feel, so keep that in mind….I love the look of the DBM finish, but find it too harsh feeling for my taste, and notably firmer than the satin finish. The iron heads and wedges I’ve built for myself and others the satin feels forged and identical head in DBM feels like a cast version of the same club TO ME. I built a set of DBM ts4 for a friend and he absolutely loves the feel, but he’s coming from a set of Pings and prefers a crisper feel. I recommend building a 7 iron in each to determine which fits your feel, fantastic irons. I ended up with TS1-Ms, which for me provided best combo of forgiveness, feel, consistency and look.

Just like for Mizuno and Wilson, a lot of fans notice that most of those companies’ staff players are playing WOODS made by Taylormade and Callaway. It doesn’t bode well if that even w all the customization available to their pros, they still choose to play another company’s driver and/or fairway woods. This is not to say that these 3 companies’ woods might not b best fit for some amateurs, just the reason a lot don’t even try them.

What’s working best for me is 5 iron, then 5 and 4 hybrid then 4 wood and driver at top of bag. My 5 hybrid (25 loft) is about 1/2 club longer than my 5 iron and appreciably higher. I play my 4 hybrid at 21 loft so gapping for me is perfect between the 5 hybrid and my 16.5 4 wood. The 5 hybrid/5 iron combo also takes care of all the creative trouble shots I hit. Been very happy with this setup. I’m in early 60s w 100-103 SS w driver.

Welcome to the gorgeous Russian meth whore that is golf. I’d find a decent set of irons and woods from Preowned sites like Callaway or Taylormade. I’d find a forgiving set like older Callaway Apex or some of the Maltby irons that also allows you to keep getting better with them. Spend most of your golf money playing and working with a GOOD instructor. Once you have grooved a good and repeatable golf swing, then get fitted and treat yourself to whatever works best for you.

You have it backwards. Shortening shaft 1 inch will reduce swing weight by around 6 points so club would be in c6ish range. Adding heavier grips will reduce the swing weight even more, it will only increase the static weight. if you were only talking about couple swingweight points , I think you could adjust, particularly if from heavier grips. If you need irons that short, I think you are better off building from scratch, and having increased head weight.
