I hate cheats. Junior, regular or senior. There are more and more everyday. I’ve seen my fair share of cheating in junior golf. I understand the OP. It’s very hard to see someone cheating in front of you in a tournament and just keep mum. Even if you are not supposed so address the kids in any way.

I love your line-up @Obee No prejudice at all and pretty straight to the point.

I took up pilates a couple of months ago. It's been a great boost for my core, a neglected part of my body. In my class there's two other guys in their 40's who train polo ponies and they need to unwind after hours on horseback.

Slo mo swing repetitions. Your experience
naval2006 replied to naval2006's topic in Instruction & Academy
Stubborness is the mother fault of most golf swings -
Perhaps you are. If you look at John Daly IRL you realize on the spot he doesn’t care much about his image.

Will Z as Happys original caddie was a real ripper. And John Daly didn’t even have to play the role lol.

I came across an article this weekend about slow motion drills and repetition of the swing and different sections of the swing to help ingrain a correct motion, or feel the different parts of your body throughout the swing in practice and also in competition. I assume part of it is what Justin Rose does in his preshot routine. But I had never heard about it before and I’m curious about it. I’d love it you shared your experiences with this type of practice like when you use it, what your routine is and if it has really had a positive impact in your game. Thanks.

Are you a good student/proper practice
naval2006 replied to GoGoErky's topic in Instruction & Academy
Good students are hard to find in the realm of adult golfers. It's very hard for instructors to live in the age of YouTube also. We often find examples here of adult golfers that took up the game 4 months ago, they've taken 3 lessons and they post here already questioning the teacher and asking for WRX advice. There's no other way to progress in golf than taking lessons; but this is a statement often questioned online or on social media because the value of instant gratification in whatever aspect of life is extremely high these days. Or stories like Bubba Watson or any other PGA Tour golfer who states that they never took a formal lesson but there is no way to check the veracity of it are used to justify this peculiar digging out of the dirt attitude. A good student first trusts their coach, and this is the foundation to learn and make progress. And then the student must be diligent to do their homework, they have to be persistent and accept the fact that hitting the ball during the early stages of change shouldn't be a priority. On a final note, I've always noticed how quickly children pick up a good game. They are receptive and flexible but they also take the teacher's words without questioning them. They simply try to do what they are told. Adult students are a bit of a mistery for me. It's not unusual that they jump from one teacher to another, they blame the previous teacher, they want to progress with lessons and hardly any practice and they are often lured into any rabbit hole nearby. -
From going through this thread quickly I assume the most critical club is closely related to a golfer's weakest part of the game. In my case too it's my wedge game, especially around the green. On any 50/60% GIR day I have a decent or very good score. On my average 35% GIR round I either have to miss it on the right spot or else I'm usually doomed if I have to pitch 4 or 5 times a round.

Good we enagage in these kind of topics that are mainly useless but fascinating lol. Player of the year was crowned last Sunday. No room for doubt.

This may be bad news, but winning golf is, well, boring. Cabrera, Phil or Bubba and the magic shots at Augusta is what remains in people's memory. But the neat grind of champions from Thursday through Sunday usually remains unseen. The crowds and the media always need the show.

Scottie is THE man, hands down. Absolute dominance for the third year in a row. The king of golf. Hard to figure out how this guy already has haters. It’s probably a GolfWRX thing, or his high level of success, I don’t know.

Very sad story for me when Tom hit it over and then he couldn't recover from the back of the green. And true there was a bit of hatred for Cink at the time. I felt sorry for him too at that moment because the news was Tom Watson at 59 almost winning the Open. Hardly anyone talked about the winner and his merit. But Cink has always showed integrity after that, and these days I believe many Tom fans sympathise with him.

Changing My Perspective on What is a "Good" Shot
naval2006 replied to Johnny Biarritz's topic in Instruction & Academy
200 yard approach? I have to figure out how I’ll be somewhere around the green first. -
Very high heat is usually hard on the homestretch. My rule of thumb is get plenty of water so that you feel like going to the toilet every six or seven holes. Never feel thirsty. And eating some fruit also helps.

Great you can have that golf regime, OP. I know a couple of retired guys who do the same, except that they also play 9 holes daily and 18 on Saturday. I don't know if they focus and work out like we should here at WRX, but they always seem to be having a great time; plus they are awesome to be around with.

A lot of young golfers took after Johnny Millers marvelous swing. Starting the downswing with the hips, coming from behind, head behind the ball. Too timing and coordination based. But as cool and beautiful as you could get.
