More on the changes with the networks covering golf.

This is still WGC, go to Mexico, Korea, China, etc. It didn't work. If "money talked" then these guys would have gone to LIV. A few did, but the majority didn't. The top players are already pretty wealthy and fly on nice planes when they do travel. And this is just re-hashing stuff from last year. Or the year before that. Or the year before that....

But "golfers" is a tiny audience and pro golf needs to attract more than just those people. If "golfers just want to watch golf" was enough then LIV would be doing much better. The PGA Tour broadcasts definitely could use some of work to get better of course. Like please, please kill off "playing through"! They had those, they were called the WGC. Doesn't seem like "well received" is the term I'd use for those....though Covid kind of derailed the "other locales" part but as has been mentioned many times, most the guys are US based and don't want to be travelling all over the place.

Had similar stuff happen with my league at our previous course. We had a block of tee times that we'd use for our play every week. Unfortunately this course was not great about having a starter out by the first tee so I frequently had to deal with "members" who thought they could just show up and play whenever they wanted, when in fact all their "membership" got them was early access to tee times. One mom and her 2 kids was a "Karen" before that meme existed, had to go get the pro from inside the shop to explain the deal to her.

One of the biggest problems these ranking systems (OWGR + Data Golf) have is too small of a sample size and you want to make it even smaller? Silly. In fact, they made the access to their league even smaller, I.e. reducing the number of spots in the qualifying tournament from 4 to just 1. Will be interesting to see if their new application includes any suggestions of changes in these areas. Or just more of the same posturing and complaining.
