  1. I think I have good general understanding of pressure and GFR. At least as good as one can be without using the tech daily and analyzing thousands of swings. I think in the beginning it hurt me. Trying to artificially create pressure and GFR can be a bad thing, at least it was for me. Just like anything else in golf - doing 1 thing better or correctly is not always going to end up in positive results. Especially if you do something else incorrectly to get the result that your working on. Looking back, I think I was so focused on pressure and GFR, that even though I was increasing pressure and feeling the right movements....I never got my COM moving forward enough. Separating pressure in my lead side and COM was something I completely missed. You can get lead side pressure, but your COM stays back. In the end it is now paying dividends, as I'm hitting the ball further. But I think it's just like anything else in golf. Knowing and being able to apply it, are 2 totally different things. And if you can't apply it, you might not know it as well as you think.
  2. The grip is pretty complex in my opinion. Really difficult to interpret things correctly from images. How you wrap your fingers / hands around and where it ultimately ends up is not something that's easily visible in pictures. I went round and round - more in the fingers, more in the hand, etc. for a long time. Then I watched Padraig's grip video and he goes into great detail on it. After watching that and being able to complete the 3 things below, I've never questioned my grip again. 1) Wrist Movement - You should be able to do figure 8 movements with the club just using your wrists. A good fundamental grip gives you a lot of wrist mobility compared to a poor one. 2) Being able to swing without the club face opening or closing. Can you take a swing and return that club back to address in the same square position? 3) Continuation of 2. Hit 3 balls in a row and then return the club to address, is it still in a square position?
  3. Basically getting the COM moving towards the target. Very common fault of firing with too much weight on the trail side. Low point is always going to be a struggle with that. I also think that in this particular lesson, for him feeling the arms and hands not doing anything..... was allowing him to be patient enough to get his weight forward first before going at the ball. A good feel for a guy firing off the trail side like that. With that being said, it's going to improve his game. But at some point his arms will probably trail his pivot and he'll need to work on feeling like firing his arms again, but hopefully will still be getting to the lead side early enough. The rope drill I think is again getting the COM forward. Let the rope sit on the shoulder move forward then swing it. Hands free and arms out of it are not correct sayings. But feel ain't real and I can see how it helps his sequencing, by him feeling that, it gives him that patience to get forward. And he obviously still uses his arms.
  4. It looks like your out of sequence. The lower half is maxing out early, then the upper half keeps going to complete the swing. My feel is to have the upper half move the lower half. Now that you've drilled to get your hips going. Try to let the upper and lower move more in synch together. Looks like since you've been focusing on hip depth your really trying to get them to move and early. I think watching Rory below will give you a good visual.
  5. Need to get more aggressive when you can. You can only make so many putts from outside of 5ft consistently. Ultimately need to hit it closer to the pin when the opportunity presents itself and hit driver on shorter par 4s instead of the safe layup. It's a fun learning experience to play very aggressive and then learn where the balance is to be more consistent but still give yourself a chance to shoot well under par. And to drain at least one putt on that 7-15ft range always helps.
