  1. When I am on the range “figuring something out” I find the hosel, a lot. Always have. The other week I had a good laugh to myself because there were a couple guys close to me and I sent out like 15 iron shots working on tight cuts… maybe 50% pure striped and 50% straight up shanks (one hit a tree off to the right and came back at the hitting area, which made me audibly laugh lol) Like no one should be capable of sending pure strikes out there then shank then shank then 2 pure then shank etc. I think it has to do with holding off turning it over but it’s super rare on course even when I am trying to exaggerate a fade so maybe it’s a concentration thing (my adhd and range don’t play nice) or I just default to my swing when playing even if I have thoughts of feeling something different. No matter what I always want to laugh like a kid when I’m on the range with people sending hosel rockets, it’s like farting in public, it’s always funny to me….
  2. Brought the 8 and the 6 with me today to test at range. Not going to lie, I was a little intimidated being away from them for 2 or 3 years, they are called small for a reason. That lasted until the first shot, I didn’t even hit my kyoeis to warm up. I had 8 on a par 3 and hit the small blade, gir par. I truly forgot how dialed in the feedback is, like of course you will know you missed flushing it and where, but the misses go better than you expect because you were still really close to flushing it. We all play blades for the feedback (And distance control), I just forgot how HD the feedback was with these. I’m going to game them this weekend. .
  3. Hello darkness, my old friend…. I have a diamana 75g shaft that I cut down and is basically garbage so I’m going to put the 4 iron in that. I need some brass shims and all, and my epoxy was getting tacky after 5-p so I will mess with that later. Other than that, the SW came in at like D2.5 so perfect and I went with small black ferrules cause these are mean, not fancy….
  4. @lefthack that is awesome! I’m hanging it up for the night, I just don’t know if I should use these ferrules or the small black ones. I prefer the small black ones visually over the ball, but honestly, I am for the first time in my life 5 straight rounds in the 70s and in love with my kyoeis as “scoring gamers”. I don’t see that changing and I’m buying the next set listed on the spot or any brand that is this head. Yes I loved the small blades and I’m sure I thought the same, but the kyoeis are just truly for me. That said, I want to play these when I feel like it, and I learned after the stensons I’m more likely to bag these than cbs to mix it up. So, fancy ferrules I have laying around or the stubby small black ones? Also, the black modus 105s are straight nasty, so worth the $75 used premium. Because if that I’m more open to the decorative ferrules…
  5. Well the 80g carbon experiment failed, screw the stensons, I need to put this set back in the rotation with proven winners as shafts! And I forgot the shafts I got came with perfect pro grips, which are one of my favorites so I’m pretty stoked about that even if not corded as I prefer (sending this from a garage in Florida with sweat literally drippping off me everywhere)
  6. What is this fake autoflex shaft you speak of? I would love to try an autoflex but as a bit of a shaft ho, I think nothing has more diminishing returns per dollar spent. However a used $600 shaft from 5 years ago for $120 is squarely in my wheelhouse lol.
  7. That looks like an OG JDM small blade? Like a real first production of it?
  8. Are those 29s? yoro or something with no stamp? They look awesome!
  9. Shafts are 1000% you have to try. And to further complicate especially with woods, the head combo will alter that. I am a 100-105 driver these days and I can play a pretty large array of shafts. Dispersion and feel is how I gauge shafts in trial now and not with numbers and tech. On another note, I’m not sure if it’s cause I played a lot last summer and have been playing legit almost 4X a week since May this year, but after the first month I have been in the 76-79 range a ton, and all while my short game has been sketchy as hell and putter couldn’t be colder regarding them actually falling. Best thing I have done is not get a lesson like last year, not thought about much swing wise other than making what I see in my head happen, and I have just been playing with basically no practice. Unlike last year my iron game has been really strong. Driver still isn’t going to impress anyone but it’s getting it sorta done. I feel like I’m stuck between a decent driving and short game in same round day away from even par as I am leaving so many shots out there and simultaneously feeling like I’m barely clinging on to keeping it under 80 and it’s going to fall apart, but it keeps happening, if that makes sense. Last time I got here expectations really ruined me as some may remember. I think that humbling experience has really helped me just keep going out to have fun, play every round one shot at a time, and it happens how it happens…So yeah….. now that I got this off my chest I'm just going to go back to not thinking and I’m just happy to be here😂...
  10. You should be able to flip the DT shafts on yahoo and get your money back and then some even if they are X and that sells worse. God knows they go for a premium over there for some silly graphics…..that said I absolutely love my DT 105s, they are just something I will never ever ever see in another American bag…..so being a gear ho that checks a box for me lol. I don’t think any DT shaft pulls of any make have gone under $125, I stole my 105 DT shafts for $170ish.
  11. Yeah, I’m still in reasonable shape and not that old yet, but I think my 3/4 takeaway and lack of coil flexibility is catching up, but my back feels good for all I have been playing and that I will never take for granted or trade for distance, I’m still very grateful I can play this game… My 16 year old started playing again (87 yesterday in his 3rd round of year after not playing since he was like 10) and I’ll be damned if he wasn’t as long as I was off the tee with some 44” old Masda driver I had laying around. I have no issue being passed up by youth, but it really hits home when you play all the time, have a high dollar shaft/head combo, practice, and feel like you are putting it out there and then some kid just rolls out there with your old junk driver for his 3rd round of the year and just sends it out there plus or Minus 10y of you all round long…..
  12. How did you like them with the 120s? Did they get a touch more softness and feel to them with those vs the dg200? Yup, you nailed it. Boring in a great way I guess. I think I am putting the 105s in my small blades. I’m still going to keep and reshaft the stensons. I gamed the Kyoei blades yesterday and it was probably one of my best iron days of the year, so they got the message no one’s job is permanent lol. Even on the front and +5 on the back as I sorta fell apart with short game (2 skulled pitches….fml) and I missed seriously 6 birdie putts that maybe didn’t even total 50ft, one was a ball short and one a ball wide and all the others touched the cup, it was sickening. That 77 was my best look at giving par a run and I just couldn’t read/speed 7ft putts after flag hunting the whole round. My only birdie was a 20fter…..I was better from there than 8 ft….. Also the no left thing was my swing, not shafts or heads, I didn’t miss anything left iron wise, and I brought back most that I started right of the pin. I’m thrilled with that.
  13. So the dgs200 are 127g. I have been playing 105. There is no way that difference would have me hooking the ball more with 22g less shaft right? It isn’t like I haven’t played 120-130g shafts plenty. Playing today and not sure if I want to game the callaways again for more research or bag my kyeois and try to shoot a score…
  14. Nice top tracer work! god I haven’t had 167 in the bag in a long a** time. I was maxing out high 150s with a few over 160 when I was testing all those shafts last year. I am not sure if my swing is losing distance (Irons notably) or if it’s age, I feel like it’s my swing settling into smooth and better golf, but every now and then the call is club down and step on it with short being the optimal miss and I will flush it to only be disappointed…. Like say my 9 iron went 147 playing for 155 like wtf….do I not have that in the bag anymore? Eh, shooting better is much better mentally than hitting a 158y 9 iron but it’s still annoying to put a good swing on an iron and have it not go what you think you have in the bag…
  15. So I got the stensons, just gamed them off the rip yesterday with the dg200, no range first or anything, raw dog. They are pretty much as expected. Feel like other endo s20, smaller profile, etc. good enough for me to be done with cbs and my kid is starting to really get into golf and has been using my shingo onoffs that are missing a 5 iron and why I was back on the cb hunt (Still mad no one turned in a single onoff 5 iron, like cmon man, it’s a no name 5 iron to whoever grabbed it off the tee box). He is going to try these tomorrow. My debut round was 42/38 so not at all bad for a double triple opening 2 holes. I figured them out better toward the end, but irons didn’t hurt or help me much of the day. I am curious on dg200 in this regard, I didn’t hook an iron all day. I was either small blocking these or I am so used to setting up for a 5-10 yard draw that I was hitting them really straightish tiny push and about where I was looking? At best the irons were turning over like 1 yard if at all. On one hole, in a spot I’m in all the time on a par 5 under trees on the left, I normally get out hittting a swinging hook 5 iron that moves like 20 yards and ends up getting out and running up the fairway, with these that same swing moved it like 7 yards, still fine up the right first cut, but I hit that shot in my sleep and am never not middle or left side fairway. I’m fully aware I don’t move cbs as much as blades, but these didn’t move much at all even trying to send a hook with a lower lofted club. They also felt a touch light to me, SW and overall, but im not good enough to be sure that wasn’t in my head. Any thoughts as to the reluctance for them to turn over being, shaft or heads? Shaft was my gut thought? If my kid likes them, the dg200s stay. If he likes the onoffs more, I’m still leaning towards putting the 105s I also got in my small blades and get back to gaming those again to mix it up. They lost the bag, but I am starting to miss the dopamine hit they give…. I don’t mean any of this to sound like I don’t like the stensons, they are really nice players cbs and for $200 in awesome condition I bet they stand up to anything current. I still shot 80 cold playing a set I got delivered an hour earlier with shafts I don’t play and no warm up, so that is some kind of testimony because the vegas did not go that well at all, but I’m just a blades guy at heart so not hating a cb is a glowing review. There is a lot to like in these visually, higher trajectory, and that hollow cb softness. Distance control actually was very much blade like, probably a top highlight looking back. I just am tossed on if I should put the 105s in them or my small blades…
