  1. I think the shaft makes a difference to sound too. I also put in a lighter weight which hasn't helped
  2. So it's not just me then? The sound really stops me loving the 280
  3. Im curious about the reverse K setup reference, as I know Porzak raves about it. What would you say are the negatives with a reverse K setup? I've often wondered why he says its the best thing ever but others say its bad news, does it hinder getting to the trail side properly?
  4. It wasn't a direct reply to you, it was a general comment to all those who have acted like a dick in this forum, or came across as pathetic. You replied with the police car GIF, which prompted me to expand on my earlier point. It isn't surprising however that you thought I was aiming it at you, although ill give you the benefit of a doubt and assume the police gif was an attempt and lightening the mood. Im not going to get dragged in to an argument or further tittle tattle on this, I have made my point and reflected how others feel. Happy to move on, just be respectful to eachother please gents and let's keep this forum a good place to learn and share ideas
  5. Its pathetic in all honesty, grown men arguing in every thread about who is more right than the other. A few have tried to dress it up or defend what is happening but it's honestly embarrassing to watch. There is discussion and then there is playground tittle tattle, and thats what it often turns in to. While some may not mean to come across as cocky or hostile, more often than not it does come across that way. It hasn't gone unnoticed to many casual observers of this particular forum and I wanted to make feelings and observations known. All I ask, and feel free not to take heed, is that you all think before you type and hit post. How might the message come across to others? Would I speak in that way if I was having a conversation in person? Could I word it in a less confrontational way? Let's get this forum back to how it used to be, pleasant discussion and acceptance of other points of view. If you don't agree with another point of view, try not to be a dick about it when responding. Cheers 🫡
  6. Why does everyone have to be right on this forum? The constant bickering and nitpicking is exhausting to read. Im all for discussion but its getting out of hand. Reign it in lads, you know who you are. Fed up of it!
  7. I would watch the lessons he has given to James Wiltshire too, on James channel. I think you would enjoy it
  8. Watch stuff from Liam Robinson here in the UK - he has done videos with James Wiltshire on his channel and just released another video this week. Honestly its eye opening and he explains it all in a different way. No force plates, just drills with and without a ball focussing on moving off the ball and creating space to get back on to it. For someone like me who doesn't have enough movement its really eye opening. I have messed around this week with some of his step drills and you can feel how much more dynamic the swing is, even after 5 mins of the drills. A lot of his drills are step drills and hitting a towel, I highly recommend you give it a watch. Learned it all from a coach called Gary Barter
  9. I like to think of it as a giant jigsaw puzzle - if some of pieces are not in the correct place, the rest of the puzzle will take longer to piece together - or at best will be a mismatch of what the puzzle should look like when complete
  10. Yep pelvis is still my number 1, and general backswing movement as a whole. Not getting to golf much lately, which is annoying seen as we are in our small golfing window here in Scotland... I have a much better understanding of the pelvis movements now though so I should be able to keep myself on track
  11. Interesting that a couple of folks have picked up on my posture and core issues. As with many faults we have, there's no excuse to not improve it really. I could blame my insanely busy life with work, kids and 1 year old baby etc but I just haven't committed to any real exercises to improve it for a while now. I have lost a fair bit of weight this year and I am fairly strong in my upper body from the gym, but truth be told I want to focus more on faster dynamic movements at the gym for the 2nd half of the year. I have always typically neglected my core at the gym, yes I will hit it to some degree as I follow a typical bodybuilding workout regime but I do need to dedicate more focus to the core directly. I can really see how my body is effecting my swing as I close out my 30s. 10+ years ago I was as strong as an ox and could smash the ball with less effort, and had no real clue about technique back then. But now I really need to work on my body if I want to make swing a club better, and not feel sore the next day!
  12. Yeah I maybe wasn't clear on my post but I am describing a shrug the same way you are, sort of up towards the ears like on those GIFs. I can feel a bit of a shrug when I take my stance, and have to actively relax my shoulders and unshrug to get them to neutral. I think its due to my overall poor posture from work. I can definitely feel tension, not sure it would really show on video. You are right that my backswing restrictions could be related to other things, and I believe its a combo of things but I was curious if anyone had ever came across excess shoulder shrug causing issues, as only ever heard of outward and inward shoulder movement being discussed (protraction and retraction). Maybe its just a rabbit hole.
  13. Hi all, i'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts or has knowledge on the biomechanics of the shoulders and how they effect the overall chain of movement in the backswing. I sit at a desk for a good chunk of the working week and suffer with poor posture, as a lot of office workers probably do. This includes shoulders rounded (wife is always moaning at me to pull my shoulders back) and a bit of a shoulder shrug with leaning forward to type (I don't sit and type in the textbook way where you are upright and supported etc). So I naturally sit at my desk with shoulder protraction and some added shrug (not sure the of the technical term for a shoulder shrug). Anyways I was messing around last night grinding away on my pelvis movements and backswing feelings but something felt off, even when the pelvis was moving right my backswing felt restricted and forced. As part of my work to sort out my pivot i'm also working on my stance and posture - getting my butt further forward and less behind ankles (trying to get more posterior) and having upper body hunched over a touch (like AMG describe looking over a fence, or the holding a beach ball feeling). It occurred to me while looking at my reflection that my shoulders were very much shrugged up in my set up, and I can feel my lead shoulder getting in the way of my head as I turn back. So, I tried consciously unshrugging my shoulders at address and keeping them that way as I started back and was able to feel more free and lead shoulder was getting back and under my chin, rather than colliding with my chin as such. Its at that point I realised that I probably shrug a bit when taking a golf posture and probably caused by my poor posture at work. I also tried holding my lead shoulder more in retraction on the way back (in reality its probably more neutral as I am have too much protraction to begin with in my opinion). For context I also suffer from a weak core, tight hamstrings, weak glutes etc... so my whole chain is effected in various ways Curious if anyone else who sits a lot at a desk has suffered with this, and if any of the instructors who know more about the biomechanics of the swing have any thoughts on this like @iacas, or is it a waste of discussion 😅
  14. Lets put this to bed now. I think what Ray is getting at is that it was an assumption, and that's where context and tone can be misinterpreted over written text. In a real life face to face conversation you would be more inclined to ask if he does any slow movement work, rather than just assuming he doesn't. I can see what golferdude was getting at with the observation but it did come across as a criticism rather than an objective observation. We all communicate differently and it is easy for folk to come across as cocky or condescending even if it isn't intentional. Lets keep it friendly fella's as this instruction forum has been getting too confrontational in 2025
  15. Someone with a hulk TX in the driver who can actually hit it well, no wonder you can shoot a 63 😅 Maybe that cargo shorts guy isn't a glorified youtube salesman after all 🤣 (joke FYI)
  16. I would hate to be one of the 280000 fans there this week, it will be horrendous trying to get a good view of play unless you bag a seat in a grandstand and stay there all day or follow a back end group. Even worse if you are too short to see above folk standing in front of you!
  17. I feel my Fleetwood video from the Scottish Open has inspired the head movements here Ray! Also I do agree with what Joe Dizzy has said above - momentum will effect where the clubhead wants to go and will largely dictate your follow through positions. to add to that the Rhythm and sequence of the swing is the glue, as some would say. I'm guessing that over time you are hoping that your brain will sync up the improved positions at the various P points so that it all gels when applying it in full motion?
  18. Yeah I just think for the sake of variety would be good to move it again, but I get that the infrastruture is there at the Renaissance and its at a decent location. I think the dry conditions helped bring a new dynamic to the course this year, compared to recent years where its not been quite as fiery. I think from a spectator point of view they could really improve some of the viewing areas around some of the tee boxes and make an attempt to get closer to the hole, there are some holes that you can barely see anything up close. I have noticed the last few years they are making some of the tee shots harder to get close to
  19. I have been going to the Scottish Open for 8 or 9 years now and its time to move on to a new course I think.
  20. Yeah got a san diego and love it, 2nd hand but changed the shaft and grip
