  1. Yeah, the additional subscription seems high. I pre-ordered one and will at least give it a go for a season and then make a decision on re-upping or not. Surely they’ll wind up bundling this? I think the current differentiation in the product vs competitors is enough to justify the premium they charge for the subscription. I’ll need to be convinced that it’s that much better to be worth the extra range finder subscription. On the other hand, it’s a relatively small number in the context of my overall golf expenditure. If it’s a good product I’ll probably pay up for it.
  2. It would have been great to get some first hand feedback on the school, but it doesn’t seem like anyone here has been. Even without the feedback, I’ve decided I’m going to do it. AMG’s ideas resonate with me, the analytical approach suits my personality, and I’ve done well coming out of a golf school before. I’m excited! I’ll report back after the school and post details and a review.
  3. That sounds like great plan for you.
  4. I think it’s just different for different people. I’m absolutely not looking for a getaway. I’m looking to jump start improvement in a couple of days of intensive work in a way that has been effective for me in the past. I’m sure there are also plenty of people who would benefit more from a series of lessons over an extended period of time.
  5. No harm, no foul. Thanks for the feedback.
  6. I hear you. I think it’s different for different people. For me, the best golf I ever played was after attending a golf school and just committing to work on nothing else but my top couple of take aways from the school. In the year after I attended the school, I got down from a 7 to a 2 index playing once a week and getting maybe 2 range sessions a week in. For a bunch of reasons, I stopped playing regularly after that, but I’m at a point now where I’m able to play more regularly and I’ll have time and access to more practice. I’m hoping I can apply the same formula I did then and use an intensive few days at a golf school to set me up for a structured path to improvement.
  7. Haha! Yeah. I’d never spend anything even in that universe for a putter, but if someone else see value in it, who am I to judge how they spend their money. I guess I shouldn’t have said “no one blinks”. I should have said no one goes on to a for sale thread and says “$6k for a putter- lol”.
  8. I didn’t ask about the cost, but seeing as that seems to be the most interesting part of the golf school to some people, here’s how I’m looking at it: The $6k they charge for the school includes accommodation and ground transportation. Thats would have otherwise cost me around $600. It also includes a year of their online membership which would otherwise cost $1200. I have no idea if the online membership is worth $1200, but having the ability to remotely stay in touch with the coaches and stay on track is something I’m specifically looking for anyway, so it’s money I would have spent if it wasn’t included. So that leaves $4200 for the 2.5 days of instruction. From the small amount of research I’ve done, 2.5 day schools with other highly regarded golf schools run between $2k and $6k. I see the differentiators for AMG as being: -The GEARS analysis -4 students : 2 instructor ratio - The instruction is all delivered by the guys running the place. I find it pretty amusing that in a forum where no one blinks at a $6k putter in the classifieds, spending that much on a golf school is where the line is drawn.
  9. Has anyone attended one of the AMG 2.5 day schools? I’m thinking about signing up for a school in the fall. It seems like a good school and not a terrible value relative to other “name brand” golf schools, but it would be great to hear about first hand experiences.
