This is exactly why I have cautioned people on this forum to avoid causeways, wharf areas and inland waterways. Can't be trusted.

A New Chapter for GolfWRX- We are now part of the Pro Shop family
Ferguson replied to easyyy's topic in General Golf Talk
WRX is the first and only web forum I have ever posted in regularly. Before registering, I would read the threads, trying to understand the community vibe. I remember thinking to myself, "this place needs a ferguson." Over the years, I have researched pretty much everything golf and learned a thing or two about the game (great environment, great personalities and excellent resources). As with any change, the usual bumps in the road are to be expected, but I believe a fresh direction will ultimately yield a better user/customer experience. -
Concerned is not the word l would use. Intrigued, or somewhat interested but certainly not concerned. Perhaps he doesn't wish to share a strategy presently as it might be a work in progress. Or, why announce a strategy and give the competition an opportunity to understand the direction. There is also a good possibility he wants nothing to do with the approach of previous captains. Maybe he us using AI?

How is your post volume? Do you think the Players should be tagged the 5th major? Do you routinely drive it over 300? Do you consider your posts to be golf-centric and always that of high quality content? Do you have or know anyone with a very extensive art collection?

Congratulations. Did you get the welcome package with VISA gift card, four dozen pro-v balls, Norwegian handmade sweater and select music from Greta Van Fleet?

You know, Booth brings up an important point about manufacturing a controversy to perhaps draw attention to his so-called "content." Well, what if he was faced with a challenge from the real world with a regular guy? No TV - just two people and a contract. Let's say a guy like me for example offered a guy like him $10K US as an appearance fee and an additional $10K US to beat a guy like me for 18 holes. The venue and time would be selected by a guy like me. Should be easy for a guy like him with his resources. For Pete's sake, he is a golf content creator, friend to several pros and apparently worth a ton of cash. However, if a guy like me was to beat a guy like him for 18 holes, a guy like him would agree to pay a guy like me $50K US; and, additionally upon the loss, a guy like him would agree to permanently shut down his YT site and cease all social media pertaining to golf for a period of 5 years.

When Scheffler is over 50, I see myself, essentially out of my mind, being seated overlooking a grassy field or body of water. Someone will ask, "Ferg, would you like more potato salad?" And I will reply, "T Rex is my favorite dinosaur, and Jay Don Blake is my favorite golfer; Qatar Masters, bah."

Marriage, life and easy paychecks. The game vanished in the blink of an eye. YJS is now MJS. (Mature)

Although we might see an occasional flash, a permanent return to greatness is not coming. Unfortunately, his best years are behind him.

Again, I try to bring educational content whenever possible. Cousteau was a pioneer. No disrespect to those who wear visors.

If he is just a YT golf guy, then why not play in the tournament? What's the big deal? He played in the creator tournament. I don’t like phony people. A real-deal golfer would have played. I am dedicated to bringing solid "devil's advocate" content to threads. If Grant was truly dedicated to helping golfers with his content, he would have demonstrated said content by playing. It's exciting to see the Dunning-Kruger effect being played out Grant. Scheffler: same old, same old.

We are giving this guy way too much time and effort. A few final thoughts. What I can't appreciate is that some people treat him as the Jacques Cousteau of golf. Let's face the facts - he discovered nothing, he brings nothing new, he offers nothing but time on a video. That is Value? I guess he could be considered the modern day Pied Piper for high cappers, slicers, pullers, multi-towel carriers, fancy ball mark collectors, visor wearing get food on the turn golfers who want to play better but can't find the time for real instruction.

Not good enough but he's honest. Is that what you're selling today? Everyone knows PGA guys play at a different level. Tell us something we don't know.

Typical.

Congratulations. Post pics of your gift basket. I remember when I hit the 10-year mark. WRX sent me the largest gift basket imaginable. Shirts, balls, coupons - even socks. New umbrella, cool weather vests, food, snacks, coffee.

Principles? C'mon dude. Versus # of clicks if he finished top 10. He weighed the options and took the easy way out.

It's all about pride and ego. That's why he didn't play. If his base sees him miss a cut and chop it up the first two days, he gets blasted with negative feedback. Clearly, the delicate influencer can't take being center stage. It's like having "the accused" testify in court. Too risky.
