  1. As @El Gringo said, the best 36 hole option is Dunluce at Portrush, then make the 15 minute drive to play The Strand course at Portstewart.
  2. If you really like the CT but want more spin you’ll LOVE the CTX.
  3. Been a really busy summer with work so haven’t got out as much as I wanted to, but heading to The Kingdom on Wednesday for a fitting so will stop by and see Alex and the guys. Have to get my game ready for my trip to the UK in late September. Haven’t made any shaft changes since the trip, they just work so well. The Axioms are just a perfect fit for me. They give me the higher peak height and spin that I need but still have the stability and control that other lighter weight shafts don’t have. However I may look at a Ventus Red in my Ping g440 4wd since my TR Blue is not getting the same peak height it did in my g425. Hope everyone is doing well.
  4. I lived in Suffolk for 8 years and always loved the seaside cliffs of Norfolk. It’s got such good golf but as you said is overlooked and never gets the attention it should. A 3 day lineup of West Norfolk, Hunstanton, Cromer, and Sheringham would be such a good lineup.
  5. Exactly, I actually returned my rental car after driving a day in Paris. Hands down the worst drivers of any city I’ve driven in. Yes, roads are narrow in Scotland but the people don’t drive like maniacs.
  6. I agree, there’s so much good golf within 3 hours of London in pretty much every direction. I recommended Royal Cromer, Royal West Norfolk, and Sheringham. An easy 2.5hr drive from London and spectacular cliff side links courses. It’s such a great area for golf that doesn’t get the attention it should. Royal West Norfolk is a Top 20 course in England and has been #61 rated in the world. Sheringham is Top 70 and Cromer is just below that. Green fees are half to a third of the price of other Top 100 courses. They aren’t as famous for the Barry bag tag guys, but for spectacular views and great links golf you would be hard pressed to find a better collection and value of 3 courses in such a close area. https://www.sheringhamgolfclub.co.uk/ https://www.royalcromergolfclub.com/ https://www.rwngc.org/
  7. You summed it up with your first statement…… Overnight train to Inverness, renting a car to drive to Dornoch, playing 4-5 rounds of golf in 3 days, THEN driving to EDI. It’s ultimately up to you, but after 4 days of sightseeing then adding that itinerary is torture in my opinion.
  8. If you want to stay relatively close to London but want links golf, you’re on the right track to go to the Sandwich area. Being a single, I would send emails to Royal St. George’s, and Princes. If they are full, some other lesser known options are northeast of Norwich: Royal Cromer and Sheringham Golf Club. https://www.royalcromergolfclub.com/ https://www.sheringhamgolfclub.co.uk/
  9. HIGHLY recommend Portugal. Very underrated golf destination imho. My group trip was there in 2023.
  10. We are going to Southport, UK at the end of September. Playing these courses: Hillside Wallesey Southport & Ainsdale Lytham & St. Annes Birkdale Hoylake West Lancs
  11. The best two links courses in Dublin are The Island and Portmarnock. Druids is a GREAT course after the remodel, but not links. Corballis might be the best bargain in the world and tons of fun to play.
  12. NB is great, but it’s adding a ton of windshield time. If it was me, I’d keep Prestwick and Troon and Sunday 19th Arrive in Edinburgh, Drive to Prestwick (1.5hrs) and play. Stay in Troon. Monday 20th Play Troon then drive to Edinburgh (1.5hrs) fly to Belfast on 8:15pm flight stay in Belfast. Tuesday 21st Drive to Downings (2hrs) and play St. Pats then Cruit, stay in Downings. Wednesday 22nd Drive to Portstewart (2hrs) and play. Stay in Portstewart. Thursday 23rd play Portrush then drive to Newcastle (2hrs) to spend the night. Friday 24th play RCD then drive to Swords (1.5hrs) to spend the night. Saturday 25th play The Island and Corballis spend the night in Swords. Sunday Depart
  13. Man that would be a BRUTAL first day. Off the plane, then 3hrs drive, then a round of golf…. I’ve done that trip many times. Here is what I have done: Day 1 Land in Dublin, drive 1.5 hrs to Slieve Russell. Play golf, then stay the night in the hotel. Day 2 Drive to Donegal Golf Club 1.5hrs and play Murvagh Links. Then drive to Ardara 40mins, spend the night Day 3 Drive to Narin & Portnoo 15mins, and play. Then drive to Cruit Island 45mins and play. Then drive to Downings 1hr Day 4 Play St. Pats Day 5 Play Old Tom & Sand Hills Day 6 Drive to Portsalon 30mins and play, then drive to Ballyliffin 1.5hrs stay the night Day 7 Play Glashedy then drive to Drogheda 3hrs Day 8 Drive to Dublin Airport 30mins and depart.
  14. Like you, my wedge and short game are my strength. However, if I could pick one club to be the best, it would have to be the putter. I’m not a bad putter, but two to four more made putts a round would be huge.
  15. Yeah, all that and it wasn’t even his ball….
  16. Yeah, it must be really hurting the islands to not have the tourists this summer.
  17. With the ferries out, did you drive to Campbeltown? I’m doing some early scouting for our groups trip in 2028 and trying to figure out the ferry schedule from Adrossan to Campbeltown to play Machrihanish and Machrie for our trip to Ayrshire.
  18. If it’s just one round, I would pick between Portmarnock, however this late in booking it could be really tough to find an open slot. If you are a single you would not be able to book a time, so my recommendation would be to contact Portmarnock, and The Island and ask if they have a slot open for a single. If you want to save $300 and have a lot of fun, play Corballis.
  19. You can plan your trip by yourself. It does take some time and research to work out the logistics of travel, transportation, and tee times butIf you have the time and enjoy that I would recommend doing it yourself. However, a travel company will generally charge about a 30% premium to handle all of that for you.
  20. You’re not missing out on anything at Hog’s Head. 100’s better in Ireland.
  21. I’ve lost count of the golf balls I’ve seen crack. It happens to all manufacturers.
  22. No, they had steel CFS shafts in them when I sent them back. Yes they will replace any missing badges and cpt.
  23. Thanks. I’ll look on the map and see if I can find the names.
