Looking for some shaft advice for my 3i driving iron. I play Titleist T100 4–PW with Dynamic Gold X100, and the 4i setup is working really well – great feel, tight dispersion, and consistent flight.
Right now I’ve got two Srixon ZX Utility 3 irons:
One with a Ventus Blue HB 10X – goes long, but dispersion is a mess. Doesn’t feel connected, and I just can’t trust it through impact.
The other has a Modus GOST 125 Tour X – much better control and dispersion, but it’s definitely a “go after it” shaft. If I back off even a little, the performance drops off.
Swing speed with the 3i is around 101–103 mph. Since the X100 in my 4i feels so solid, I’ve been thinking about going with steel in the 3i too – something with that same feel and control, just not quite as heavy or demanding. Looking into DG X100 105 or X100 120, but open to other options.
I also used to game a 3i with Project X LZ 6.5. It was okay in terms of flight and feel, but at 125g it felt a bit too heavy long-term, especially for something I hit mostly off the tee or into the wind.
One key thing: with the X100 in my 4i, I can flight it down and hit low, penetrating punch shots with confidence – super reliable. I don’t have anywhere near that level of control with the GOST or Ventus setups. They perform, but I just can’t work the ball or manage the window the same way.
Really just looking for something that gives me tight dispersion, good feel, and control over the flight – don’t need max distance, just consistency.
