  1. Just noticed that this month marks 20 years on this forum for me. Back in the day, I used to frequent bsg, FGI, ham n egg, tour spec... But this forum was always the best group. Never much drama and mods don't get too involved. I'm a proud paying member. Happy to support a site that has helped me further enjoy the game, as well as pass allot of time through the last 20 years.
  2. July 2005 .. This is the only golf forum I'm active in now. I came here from ham n egg, bombsquad, and FGI (free golf info) forums back in the day... oh and some tour spec mixed in.
  3. Check out the chart here. It gives the optimum launch and spin numbers for your ball speed. https://ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=In the optimal launch and,in the recommended spin rate.
  4. Based purely in these numbers, go with the Cobra. These could probably be optimized a little more. What loft were these?
  5. Someone get over zealous with the belt sander. No need for all that. You could use a shim and maybe some glass shaft beads.
  6. Y'all using too much epoxy if it's running out the hole or filling that much the shaft. Let it sit a minute and then put it on. It won't run anywhere. And you don't need the head on either... Linev up the graphics and good to go.
  7. #1... Slower speeds need height. You hit everything too lowb for the ball speed being generated. #2.. improve your delivery with irons. You hit up more on your irons than you do your driver. #3.. Shaft won't help any of these. The head is the biggest factor first. Then, the shaft is the timing. #4...piggy back on #3, look at something like Cleveland halo irons. And with graphite shafts.
  8. The 17* is launching lower than the 14.5? Also, keep in mind that when ventus says blue is mid... They mean compared to the black and red. Compared to industry, they are probably more low/mid. If your strike is the same with both clubs, meaning it isn't an impact issue causing the low launch, you might try the red or move to a tensei blue (an excellent shaft as well). If that still isn't getting it, aldila ascent is another good lightweight option..
  9. This is the correct answer. As a former TaylorMade fitter, I can tell you that GD and ventus don't really have 1:1 comparisons, EXCEPT for maybe the AD GC and the blue velo+... It's close.
  10. I have. I don't care for 50ish gram shafts. I get little less accurate with them.
  11. Which is 1/2" more than Tour AD recommends... I just discovered this with my gt280 playing a little too stiff. It's a full 1" tip. I moved the shaft to my 5 wood (which is what tour AD recommends for a 5 wood) and got another shaft for gt280.
  12. I'm at 108 cruising speed and play blue velocore+ in 6s. I tried 5, but it is a little lose. 6 is pretty perfect for me.
