Here is a good explanation of the different ways to balance a putter: My modified putters have been zero torque and not lie angle balanced though at 79 degree lie angle they are very close to lie angle balanced. LOL at least I seem to be less confused then I was at the start of this particular endeavor. Thanks to @J.Bex and @ThinkingPlus for helping me to understand.

Earnest Jones taught hands lead, body follows. A bit different from what Erica is saying.

I was fixing to post that video but you beat me to it. Luckily I have no fear of stuffed monkeys! Pasive arms body lead swing. The instruction seemed to work well in this case. I wonder if she was teaching someone who was over doing the body turn and getting all jammed up if she would have them work on getting the arms moving...

Beginner golfer concerned with direction of lessons

You know sometimes I agree with you like in this case. Probably confirms that you are indeed "reading his overall statements in the wrong way"? -
Great video! First time i ever saw Moe in short sleeves...

If a person speed trains and gets faster there is a chance that swing mechanics are improved by speed training. Works for some.

Gaining speed is the lowest hanging fruit.

I confirmed the 90 degree rule a while back using a 90 degree putter on a swivel trying to test Bryson's dimple putting process.

Thanks for the info. LOL I built one: Double ball bearing setup on the top pivot and letting the shaft ride on the PVC on the bottom seems pretty low friction. I will possibly put some oiled felt in there to match the LAB device at some point. I find that my putters with lie angle at 79 degrees are pretty good. Very slight tendency to open on the backswing. I doubt that it is enough to effect my stroke. I intend to make a video at some point maybe in a few weeks. At any rate it seems that a slight heel down bias would make my putters swing true.

When I get the balance correct on one of my modified putters. I can rest the putter shaft on a couple of straight edges and set the head in any position for instance toe up, face up, toe down and the putter will sit there. The putter has no bias which I had assumed to mean that it was lie angle balanced? Torque balanced per Edel means that the putter will bias toe down which is fairly easy to do. So my question is what am I missing? LOL I do tend to misunderstand things on occasion.

I have made several putters that are lie angle balanced. I set the putters up so that the shaft intersects the COG of the head. I believe that such a putter is a better option for some people and not so good for others. In my case I have a fairly straight back and through motion without much rotation which may be something that works better with a balanced putter. Here is my thread on my putter modifications for anyone interested who has not seen it: https://forums.golfwrx.com/topic/1840113-stroke-lab-exo-7-wilson-and-lynx-putters-converted-to-center-balanced/

Rinker and Monte have both said that instruction that they got in their primes hurt their careers. Rinker's impact position with his hips nearly square at impact gets bashed here but maybe if he had done that in his prime he would have had more success. Or maybe he was less upper core when he was younger and would have been a bit more open. At any rate it makes sense for a person to swing in the way that is best for their body to move. Mike Adams and Doc Wright have both come up with systems to try to accomplish this. My observation is that the two systems share common ground but also disagree in some areas so neither one is perfect. But possibly they are a small step in the right direction.

Yep. I pretty much knew the characters as I worked with them...

Oh, I had a specific purpose in mind with the Monte quotes. I was trying to get those who like to mock the good doctor's work to think a bit. Actually I see the point of the criticism and I have had the same thoughts while watching Doc Wright on Youtube. On the other hand I have also done the stance width tests and observed my hips opening and closing as predicted. So, I suspect that there may well be something to the system.

"it"? Are you talking about Monte's posts?

I had kind of lost interest in his channel but this video sucked me back in...

Now that is truly hilarious. They say that laughter is the best medicine, and you are helping to keep me healthy!

Here are a few of the posts that Monte has made on this subject which I found interesting to re-read: Virtuoso might find this one interesting:

I find it important to bring my range finder to my eye with proper momentum.

When I see something on YouTube that is interesting to me I often post it here. If that makes me a pimp I guess that is something I will have to live with LOL.

I suspect that most of his improvement was due to playing a lot more competitive golf.

Totally unaware. Was not particularly serious with my post at any rate...

Well, you also owe club fitters everywhere an apology.
