For those who have hit both, is there a big difference in distance, or just a smaller one? What other differences did you experience?

Maybe not. He was very shy off the course, and had room service for dinner for many years. He started going out for dinner with Tom Watson later on.

New Ping i240 irons - 2025 Memorial

Looks good next to your head cover, which is racey. -
But Old Tom contended that Young Tom was even better...

And if Scottie'a legs get mangled in a car accident, the hype will be huge-er.

From 1923 to 1930 Bobby Jones won 62% of the majors that he played. 64% of the major national championships (US Open, Open Championship) Yes, it was a different era, but relative to his peers, Jones was pretty good.

When I think of a truly great golfer, I think of Ben Hogan. He came from nothing, and nearly lost whatever he had trying to chase his dream. Once he started to win, he never tired of trying to be the best. At 60 on gimpy legs, he was still out competing to be the best. I don't see Scottie with that kind of desire when he's close to 50. And I'm OK with that; it is a different world for the cream of the professional golf kingdom.

I should have mentioned that I really like the Ventus White, and hit it very well a few times yesterday. But I don't want to leave any yards on the table, and I also forgot to check the Follow topic button.

Does anyone have a couple of driver shafts that can be changed depending upon conditions, or how one feels? Playing a Ventus White senior flex shaft, which feels really easy to swing and is pretty consistent, but thinking of switching a Ventus Red senior shaft from time to time. Stupid idea?

Most people who come over the top can't play a lick of golf. But Scottie does it and hits his soft fade into the fairway so often that it gets boring. Guess lots of golf fans can't buy into boring soft fades. If you know, you know.

I volunteered for the 1972 Canadian Open. It was a great experience. Watching Lee Trevino and Sam Snead stand out, as was the round where I was assigned to marshal for Arnold. Watched Lanny Wadkins and Ray Floyd in a practice round. Priceless.

Thank you for the link.

Four US golfers had a very good day today, in calm conditions. But I believe the leaderboard looked pretty international through day 3. It is truly an international game.

I decided. The GT2/Ventus White is a little heavier, and a good deal more consistent out on the golf course.

This almost aged well. T4 not too bad.

HE hits wedges with a robotic swing. Won't work in wind, high grass, bumps etc.

You can take a couple off while you are playing, and they shouldn't get scratched too much. In my experience, a scratched fairway wood works just as good as a new, pristine one, so long as it fits. Also, the old knit fairway wood covers take a lot less room if you want to go that way.

I have a GT1 9-wood on order, for two reasons. 1, to replace a 5-hybrid. 2) to pair with driver and 5-wood, 7-iron 9-iron in a Sunday afternoon 7 club bag.

Lightweight graphite iron shafts
gvogel replied to 95124hacker's topic in Avg Joe Swings Stiff and Below
I am playing 7-iron to PW with Steelfiber Flight control 80 gram shafts. They seem to work just fine for me. Steelfiber FC 90 also fine. -
The Thursday morning/Friday Afternoon side of the draw will be a big advantage if the windsurf forecast holds true. Too bad for Rory.
-
I have a hunch that Matt Fitzpatrick will probably finish second in this one. I have no idea who will win.

As a former windsurfer, I subscribe to that site as well. It does a very good job of predicting where the hurricanes hit in Florida, which I relate to my son who lives there. The forecast for Bushmills, close to Portrush, if for moderate winds but lots of rain.

Starting a new adventure . . . Minimalist Golf

Old man set up: driver, 5-wood, 9-wood, 6-hybrid, 7-iron, 9-iron, 54*SW, putter. -
10 wedges? I just gave more than 40 hickory shaft clubs, woods and irons, to a group that is starting in CT. I loved playing with them 12 years ago, but at 72 they require too much back strength to play often. I'm all graphite except the putter these days.
