Is a weaker right hand something that helps one get into better trail wrist extension throughout the backswing and transition?
-
No, this was more of a "go to your rooms and don't talk to each other" like I tell my sons at least twice a week.

Easy...there are less than 50 GEARS systems in use in thr US. Most recent estimate is that there are 32 systems in use, but that data is a little old. The cost of a lesson on GEARS is not cheap. The data is clear that not many people get lessons where GEARS type tech is used.

Do you study GRF traces to try to improve?
getitdaily replied to getitdaily's topic in Instruction & Academy
Yes, but I'm interested in how many of us avg joes actually look at that stuff and try to use it without the benefit of plates... -
More and more youtube channels are showing grf traces...TPI, GRF golf, etc. Do you study traces so you have an understanding of how to move and has that helped you improve?
-
And some folks can't get past "I have to be right".

I cut the 25g weight in half to give me a weight right at 12g. 25g was too heavy. The 12g is perfect for me. Gives me just a slight bit of added face control while not overly weighting up the grip end (which causes pulls for me).

If you tend to rotate the face closed in the downswing, a LAB could be very good for you. If you putt with a lot of hand and wrist controlling the club then a LAB probably isn't the best for you. The more your elbows or lats or shoulders control your stroke, the better a LAB will likely be for you. Anecdotally, any ZT putter with shaft lean seems to have more left misses if you rotate the face closed in the downswing.

Arguing arm angles and adduction by subtraction is bunk.

Easy big fella. You can't roll in to the buffet, starved, and engorge yourself. You'll give yourself a bellyache.

Kurt Kitayama's Significant Swing Changes
getitdaily replied to Valtiel's topic in Instruction & Academy
I have been a fan of his for a few years. When I watched dp tour events, he was an American who thrived so I pulled for him. Now, he rocks the Bridgestone ball so that makes me an even bigger fan. I'll root for him whenever he gets to the top in an event. Plus, his name is cool to say...kitty yama -
Ah...so More lead arm adduction is either from 1. Shoulders rotating open too early in the downswing 2. Transition move where the arms go deeper (more away from the ball) 3. Both

Dark voodoo, when done wrong, is deep doodoo.

Yeah, for me...that's this

Is an increase in lead arm across the chest another way of saying "dropping the arms into a deeper position in transition "?

I'm just the lighter knot...

Kurt Kitayama's Significant Swing Changes

Yep. He was all over leaderboards last year. Amazing...took his dp tour success and made it pay of against the big boys immediately. -
Kurt Kitayama's Significant Swing Changes

That takeaway is combined with less hip rotation early and thus less shoulder rotation early. So he's a touch outside to p2 and then just lifts and rotates hips and shoulders. His rotation was basically done by p3 before.... Momentum of movement...gotta love it. -
Oh so close to bolstering an argument in my head for a "measured swing data is bunk" thread.
-
You, sir, have epitomized bunk! Every drill and feel has a place. The student has to interpret the teachings into a swing. For someone taking consistent lessons, they'll do this better because they'll be able to get confirmation from their instructor...unless they have a crappy instructor. But every drill or feel is also bad, in the wrong place. So, everything is bunk unless it's not. You, the student...you, the wrx poster, have to figure it out. Get a good instructor (or just move the body better).
-
I think whatever they're bunking is the thought of the hands being in-front of the pivot at impact. Im not even sure where they're getting the need for that bunk-ness. I wonder if they're seeing a bunch of people forcing the hands way out in front during lessons/schools..
-
100% agree. The video is highly technical which leads to massive fluctuations in interpretation. I can easily see passive arms as an interpretation and I can easily see massive in to out paths. Im not sure most ams understand just how hard you have to rotate to negate a big inside orientation to path at p4.5.

Eerily similar to Harvey penick's teaching.

Yep. And in 5 years we'll all be swinging like Bruce lietzke once someone puts gears on his method...
