  1. We were there slightly off cycle a few weeks before spring break and Plantation was fairly slow, particularly at the turn as 10 is a driveable par 4. That might be your indicator there.
  2. Mixed-use development including retail, townhomes, single family rentals and potentially a senior living facility. Completion somewhere between 2029-2030 (yikes) but obviously will be built in stages. Development partner is Merus and there is some combination of bond debt and private equity financing.
  3. My first response was going to be say that since we have almost a year-round golf season this wouldn't make sense. HOWEVER, your idea about practice areas for every aspect of the game is compelling. I went to D-Bat with my son which is essentially an indoor batting cage but they have launch monitors and simulators for baseball which was pretty amazing. I would think you could snap up a former Big Lots or TJ Maxx (that amazon is busy destroying) and try your hand at this. Also McCallie School has a version of this where they converted their old indoor tennis facility into a short game/simulator barn. It was pretty cool. How much would I pay to use that? Tough to say. But there is significant risk there of course. I, personally, don't love the simulator. I now have access to one for "free" and I still only use it once a month....maybe...and only the range. The actual simulated golf courses do nothing for me.
  4. Well, the mini driver is gone for now...or for good?
  5. 2 year waitlist, $125k initiation and the re-do last year was grassing. They re-grassed all the fairways and greens though I will agree it is in excellent condition.
  6. In the minority but I would be more likely to give up the golf course than the range. Love a good range session. When you are playing well you get more of the best feeling in golf, a center strike. When you are playing poorly....well who wants to be out on the golf course then?
  7. As an update, either in a cruel twist of fate or just golf in general...I am now playing at about a 9-10 hdcp level (I am soft capped so only up to 6.8 currently) so I am actually within 10 shots of my partner now as he is a 17. Unfortunately this M/G takes the lowest hdcp in the last 6 months so I am stuck playing off a 5 and I am playing horrendous golf currently. Good thing I didn't ask the good player. Now I just need to figure out how to disappear before the calcutta so I don't look like a coward not bidding on my team.
  8. It is close, it is 30* bent to 29* but it has a lot of horsepower.
  9. @Sean124 that is an awesome round. If anything good ever happens to me on the golf course I will be sure to post here.
  10. Wear pattern looks good already!
  11. 9 club bag, feels very light and freeing. Could probably drop the 54* as well. Would go from 46* PW to 58* LW which would be fine I think.
  12. I am playing poorly and not having much fun so I am playing my course at 6,000 yds so I don't have any issues reaching par 4s or par 3s in regulation at that distance. I hit the Mini about 265 yds and my 6 iron about 190. The par 5s will be unreachable but I will probably score the same or better since I am losing shots trying to get home in 2 and putting myself in terrible spots. This way, if I am 250 out on a par 5 the 6 iron should get me to 60 yds out for an attempt at a GIR, I am good with that.
  13. Going to try this on my next round. Haven't been enjoying golf lately (I have been playing very very badly) so I think I will just go with 8 clubs: Secret Weapon 6i 7i 8i 9i PW 58* Putter Can't get much worse score-wise and at least this will lower my expectations even though the last time I played with 8 clubs I (of course) shot about the same score I always shoot.
  14. Thank you for posting this so eloquently. You have helped me before with my swing so I read most of your posts but this is especially me. I have my weight towards my heels to keep from drifting toward the ball but your explanation shows how I am exacerbating my drift toward the ball by doing that. Dynamic balance and all that....
  15. It is an entertainment product, ultimately. For tiebreakers, I will take personality adding juice to the event.
