Glad we agree. Golf is mostly played by casual players. Rules are for competition, therefore largely just a collection of amusing pedantry to most. I'm an experienced player. I play with all levels. Just relaying what I see and hear week in week out.

Haha, moving during a practice swing sometimes is ok and sometimes not. What is a practice swing? When is it ok? It's all so laughably tedious to the casual observer.

Pedantic. Moved a visible but insignificant amount. You "move" it back, zero effect; get 1 stroke for moving. You don't "move" it back, zero effect; get 2 strokes for not moving.

There is some weirdness here. Suppose the ball has been moved a millionth of a millimeter. It's not possible to move to original spot, yet you incur 14.7 which is 2 strokes if you don't try to replace. If you at least acknowledge that you moved it and make a lame attempt at non-replacement, you incur just 9.4 which is 1 stroke. I'm left questioning the merit of the 2-stroke general penalty.

Alternatively, mark your ball with your golf bag.

He's dull for sure. Just look at the power of marketing and branding to see how mediocre players can draw big bucks, and top players can command mega bucks. Don't want the extra cash, or don't want the celeb spotlight?, that's a personal choice.
