  1. Fully agreed. Yet the club keeps advertising the "restoration". To me it's weird.
  2. Follow this - it's all 100% spot on. In my opinion.
  3. Agree. They also can't please most paying visitors with greens at 8. Think how cool it would have been if they really had kept the true MacKenzie contours and kept the greens at speeds reasonable to allow for such.... damn that would be something. Dare to dream. But as you say, not realistic. What also mystifies me is how they advertise the "restoration." Oh well. I do believe what is there is good enough fun.
  4. Very valid take, JK. You picked up on what few others see, and the club seems to refuse to admit... the faustian choices they had to make to restore MacKenzie's intent. One keep the greens slow; two flatten the bottom parts. I think it works and it's fun. But that's a good question as to of it's what the members want every day.
  5. You'll love it. But yes, it is now out of reality outside of being hosted. Having played it and happily paid the green fee for nearly 40 years, this end of an era makes me sad. Hopefully you can understand. That being said, the semi-private model keeps it unique. Good call.
  6. 7 to 8 at Silver Creek gives that a run (if I have that right - long lombard street up a huge mountain). But soul-sucking is a good description for that at Winchester. Man you must REALLY be devoted to walking. 🙂 As for Corica... I haven't played back nine north yet. I liked the front nine. Bur your take jives with others I have read. South is a lot of fun. But the topic here remains Pasatiempo. 🙂
  7. No offense to Silver Creek - which is good unwalkable fun - but that is quite an upgrade. 🙂 Congrats!
  8. You'll love it. Back nine is fantastic as well. Course is better than it ever has been in my 40 years playing it. As for the price, well... it is a good deal playing with a member. I just don't like to rely on such generosity. I used to not have to for the most part. Therein lies the bummer.
  9. Old Mac has always been the least favorite of mine and playing partners on trips to Bandon. My favorite on property is Trails and second favorite is Pacific, so I'm not sure what fanboy that makes me if any. 😉
  10. Gotcha. Kinda cool they gave an aeration discount. That doesn't seem to be in their DNA any more. 🙂 In any case the point remains... it's priced out of reality for most. And that remains a bummer. Bandon is the same. Can't see I'll ever go back.
