Played the state am last week. I felt like I was playing well coming in so I was optimistic. Teed off early day 1 and got off to a rough start with 2 bad bogeys in the first 4 holes. Hit the next 14 greens in regulation and had a bunch of looks inside 10-12 feet for birdie. Just couldn’t get much to go in and settled for even par 72 to end the day 35th or so out of 140ish guys and 7 back of the lead. Day two I didn’t have my best stuff. Quick bogeys on 2 & 3 took me closer to the cut line followed by another on 6. Bounce back on 7 with a decent drive and a 7 wood to 10 feet for an eagle look. Unfortunately left it in the jar a couple rolls short. Bad weather was in the area all day and the horn blew right before I hit my 4 footer for par on 12. After a couple hour delay and 715ish restart I came out and left my 4 ft par putt short lol. Hit 2 good shots into the green side bunker on 13 and hit a poor bunker shot that barely got out and left me 20 ft for bird and didn’t convert. I did 2 putt the 2nd par 5 on the back for bird, but didn’t get any putts to go down the stretch and ended the day in the rain pushing darkness right at 9pm with a bogey on the last to miss the cut by 2. 72/76 ending at 70th I believe. Top 60 and ties make the cut. On to a couple local events now before US Mid Am qualifying later in August.
