Thank you for the referral. This is an awesome site that I haven't heard of before, but it doesn't fit my situation, unfortunately. I mentioned earlier that I'm left-handed, and I currently play ZX7 irons/will be sticking with Srixon due to partnership discounts...Srixon only offers 105S and 125X. To me, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to throw an Axiom shaft in a completely different iron/blade, as that would introduce more variables. Aspen Golf only offers a single head for lefties (Miura 901 blades)

That's some wild improvement. Congrats!! I hit on Trackman for the first time in years a couple weeks ago, and I was shocked to see my driver swing speed hovering around 110-112 (albeit with a 44.5" shaft). I've got an email from a few years ago with fitting data showing avg club head speed of 121...where did all my speed go? haha

What a beast of a reply. This is extremely helpful!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge/experience with all of us. I have partnership discounts through Mizuno and Srixon, and I'm currently playing ZX7 irons, so I'd stay within their ecosystem which means ordering a ZXi7 with either a 105S or 125X shaft (that's all they offer in the Axioms)...and it sounds like you'd suggest trying out the 105S, which I'm inclined to do as well. If I love it, I'll order a full set...if I don't, then no harm done, and I can stick with my $ tapers/re-assess next year. I would be ordering in a mid-iron; I am most interested in how these would hold up/feel on full swings (eg. 7 iron), and if I were to re-sell, then I think that would be easiest to pawn off to someone.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm kind of tied to Srixon offerings due to a discount/partnership I've got, and I also am drinking the velocore cool-aid since I'm loving them in my woods. The problem with going through Srixon is they only offer 105S and 125X...in a perfect world I'd order the 105X and not look back.

Hi team. I can't find anywhere near me that has Axiom shafts in their demo matrix, so I'm going to bite the bullet and just order a single iron for the heck of it and give them a go. I currently play $-Taper 130X in my ZX7 irons, and honestly, things are going great. With that said, I'm playing a lot more than I used to, I joined an indoor golf sim gym/hitting a bunch of balls of mats during the week, and I'm wondering if the shafts are playing a role in fatigue/tendonitis. For the first time in my life I've got golfer's elbow. 7 iron swing speed is hovering around 92 mph on average with Trackman and 95 mph on Quad, and I am not an aggressive loader. I didn't get fit into the $-tapers, I just bought them because a friend had them and I loved his irons. Numbers with my current iron/shaft combo are darn near perfect. With all that said, I want to try the graphite Axiom shafts. If I could only order one iron to try out, would you go for 105 S or 125 X? If anybody has experience with these (or comparison to $ taper...or any other advice/desire to type something out haha), then please share. THANK YOU!!!!

$-Taper 130 in my irons, and S400s in my wedges. I've always played them in the wedges, and I love them.

I don't know why, but I flat out loved the Ping Tour Chrome but couldn't find the middle of the club face with the Tour Black (both 65X). I ended up drinking the cool aid and went with a Ventus TR Blue 6X, but I feel like most of that was cause it looked awesome haha. Can't say the numbers were really better than the Tour Chrome for me. As an aside, you can get the Ventus shaft for $200 if you order it from Ping with your driver (rather than $350 aftermarket), and then you can order a stock Ping shaft on the side just in case you ever want to sell the "stock" driver (and then you get a Ventus shaft for 30% off retail). Or you can easily make your money back on the Ventus and re-sell that if you see no real difference.

Ping nailed it for me. I ordered a 440 LST with playing length at 44.75", D4-D5 swingweight, and Tour Velvet Cord midsize grip (pretty heavy at 62g). The driver came perfectly cut to the right playing length and right at D4. I was incredibly surprised/impressed.

How much does a Ping G440 LST add for playing length?
putt_for_dough replied to BrendanKre's topic in WRX Club Techs
Ahhh, that makes a lot more sense. Regardless, I think it always makes most sense to throw the shaft into the driver head, try it out, and then cut from there to your ideal playing length. It sounds like there are lots of variables if you're just trying to tell someone "cut my shaft to 44" before anything is added, as that could end up with different playing lengths depending on adapter, grip, driver head it's going into, etc. -

With a Tour Velvet Cord, the driver adds only an inch to the playing length. Shaft+adapter+grip is 43.75", and with the driver head it's 44.75" (what I ordered). D4 swingweight (good job Ping at getting the swingweight right on a shortened shaft!). Pretty surprising to me the driver head only adds an inch to the shaft length. Is anybody else getting this? I was always told it was an inch and a half. I'm measuring to the end of the grip (and the driver head at 60 degrees, which should be the standard for USGA measurement ruler) Based on this, if you want 45.5" playing length, you'd cut at something slightly shorter than 44 and 3/8" to account for the grip cap -
Private equity is *sometimes* the kiss of death for brands that come to popularity/utility/value through expensive means of manufacturing (eg handmade) and/or expensive raw materials...but L.A.B. is neither of those. They use cheap materials that are sourced from outside the company, and they simply package them together for us to buy. It's not expensive (despite what they say) to balance the putters or automate the balancing process, either. L.A.B. will grow to the point that everyone who wants one will have one (either new or used), and then they'll probably turn into another random putter that blends in on the rack. The big brands will slowly get more and more of the putter market share back from L.A.B., and it'll be back to the status quo until the next new thing comes along.... I don't see any way that private equity is going to be the kiss of death for L.A.B. If anything, it's going to help them grown and reach more customers, more quickly. I don't foresee drops in quality or anything of the sort. They'll probably expand their product line, and that'll be awesome, too. I could also be very wrong...but we will see, soon enough

Thanks for adding a second witness @Eren haha. Consider it gospel! Hopefully, there'll be a widespread release sometime in the next few weeks. Purple + heel shafted combo? Epic!

Thank you for the reply! I'll keep looking

Makino Japan Putters

I've reached out to them every 6 months for the past four years--they've always told me, "soon." Hopefully, this is sincere on their end, and we'll see some offerings within the next year!
