2025 AIG Women's Open (Jul 31 - Aug 03)
WorkItBothWays replied to Argonne69's topic in LPGA/Ladies golf talk
I'm not saying there were golf forums 30 years ago but I'm referencing the people who are on golf forums now (presumably into golf a lot as they spend time posting online) and are old enough to have been watching golf in 1995. You are telling me these people had next to zero interest in the Walker Cup which surprises me. -

Surprised, is that the case even among golfers who are into golf to the extent that they are active in online forums. -

I assume the people who have never heard of the course before that Tiger playing in the Walker Cup at Royal Porthcawl was before their time. Lottie Woad is an outrageously good putter. In time will be very interested to see how her stats match up. The scoring is good. -

It was the Senior Open and they got atrocious weather - wind and rain. I believe the forecast for this week doesn't predict much rain (some on Sunday) it is windy at the moment. -

Good start from Rose Zhang. Still surprised she didn't kick on after the last Solheim Cup. -

I suspect its reality setting in. There was zero chance it was going to maintain the level of increases outlined in the second part of the statement. -
I'm sure even skeptics would have to agree if she wins the AIG that would be amazing.

2025 ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open (Jul 24 - 27)

Playing well and the look is stylish. -
I'm very interested to see what happens with Morikawa. He's been really poor since The Players. Incredibly he's still #6 in OWGR. I expect he'll get picked but used sparingly. I'm shocked how relatively weak the US team is looking. Thinking back to Whistling Straits I thought the next away match for EU would be another blow out but a lot has changed. Any other venue I'd make EU slight favourites but at the moment I see it as 50/50.

Senior Open @ Sunningdale should be good. I've found it always a good venue whether it's the DPWT/ET, Curtis Cup, Senior Open and so on. Not sure how strong the field is. -
Everyone is commenting on this subject is referencing the image posted on social media even Oakmont's letter referenced the image. Looks minimal to me, its certainly seems minimal relative to the reaction. Wyndham should put it right but I think insisting on re-education is a step too far on Oakmont's part but as you said it's their right.
-
I agree, shocked he didn't get in front of it a long time ago but when that letter came out with Oakmont insisting on re-education it all starts to feel a bit dictatorial. Kind of a weird thing for a golf club to do and suggests a strange mentality on the people behind that letter.

Sorry but superb tweet. Any chance to get the pitchforks out and there is someone on X that is happy to do the self-righteous posturing thing. This is typical of the completely over the top internet commentary on what was without doubt a totally wrong thing to do on Wyndham Clark's part but to say he "beat the hell out of...the lockers". Again while wrong the damage is minimal you'd think he torched the clubhouse to the ground.
-
It was my understanding that Rolex ambassadors don't get paid cash/cheques but they get credits for watches. Pretty certain this has been confirmed (I'm sure Adam Scott confirmed it).
-
Bryson's recovery from a bad first round getting a lot of attention but Wyndham Clark was very impressive with 76 - 66 - 66 - 65 for T4. Nice play from Rickie Fowler too. Another player it seems like everyone has been hammering lately - obviously for different reasons to Wyndham.
-
It was amazing how many Mickelson sycophants jumped onboard with his comment at the time. There seems to be a lot of them fawning over his performance this week.

Unlikely Scottie leaves the door open for anyone but if Li Haotong gets a sniff of chance he will not die wondering as he will go for everything.
-
Scottie's up and down @ 11 was truly awesome.
-
That will never happen

Interesting article on the major championships cuts in 2025. Cam Smith the only player to play in all four and MC in all four. 11 players MC in 3 out of the 4, including Koepka, not sure how many of the 11 were in all 4. Dunlap for example is playing the Barracuda this week. Cantlay and Straka a little surprising especially the latter given he's had a good season. https://www.nbcsports.com/golf/news/sixteen-players-made-all-four-major-cuts-in-2025-one-player-missed-all-four

The par putt was a total shocker. Felt awful for him at the time.
