  1. This ^^^ is me except I need to clarify the word “inconsistent.” On my par 70 home course from forward tees where I have a 7 course handicap, 14 of my last 20 rounds have been between 75 and 78. Score wise, remarkably consistent. But how I got to those scores in each round is remarkably inconsistent. Some days I leave my drives in deep rough, in the desert or behind some trees but make every putt inside 8 feet. Some days my driving is great (short but accurate) and my approach shots are like throwing darts but I can’t make any putts outside about 3 feet. Don’t get me started in talking about shanking simple chip shots to add a stroke or two when all other aspects of my game are in sync. It is just very rare that all parts of the game come together on the same day and I shoot under 75. It is frustrating because there is no one part of my game that seems to affect the final score most on a consistent basis.
  2. No. Three things stand out for me. (1) the length is 1/2" longer than a standard 4 iron which would make the SW 3 points higher than a standard OTR 4 iron; (2) the grip is 58 grams instead of 50-52 which would decrease SW 1 point or so from how SW is typically measured; (3) the D4 recommendation doesn't say whether it is D4 assuming a 52 gram grip or whether it is a D4 recommendation after installing the recommended grip (you probably should try to clarify this with CC).
  3. I can't thank you enough for this thread. I'm going to print out the above quoted post as well as the one about the fitting cost so I can show them to my wife next time I get a delivery of Maltby heads and she looks at me with disdain. I hope you enjoy the clubs for many years. I
  4. I see you have the new generation Aldila NV shafts in them. Have you played that shaft yet? Comments? I got a bunch of the prior generation NV shafts (same specs) at a close out price based entirely on the price but haven't put them in anything yet.
  5. Unless you have some freakishly unique physical characteristics (very tall/short, long/short arms, hunchback, etc.), I don't think you're an "idiot" for thinking of getting fit but I personally think it is "silly." First, try an online static fitting tool like here: https://www.hirekogolf.com/get-fit-system . See what the outcome is. I'd wager that most people within a typical range of physical characteristics will be "fitted" for standard lengths, regular flex, standard lies, standard lofts and standard or midsize grips. Next, go to Golfworks and look at the KE4 Max Paks (6-GW or 5-GW). If your online "fitting" suggests some variance from standard, they will custom build to your specifications and you will have a brand new set of customized irons which, the vast majority of online reviews, say are great for beginners as well as many better low handicap golfers. Your total cost will be less than $300 for the irons giving you plenty of budget left to consider hybrids, fairway woods and a driver. (You could also get a 4 AND 5 hybrid fully customized for around $150). I do not believe a personal club fitting session or two and any OEM clubs will deliver for you any significantly better performance or outcome as you grow into the game. It will certainly and needlessly dent your wallet though. ,
