  1. Late to this thread. Scottie is not boring and neither was Jack. But I think the reason the topic comes up at all is because as viewers what we want from athletes is to believe that they are driven to succeed/win, and that they desperately want & need the victories. That's where the 'drama' comes from, i.e., the highs and lows in pursuit of what's most important to them. In other words, we want to feel that *they* deeply care about and are wholly invested in the results, so that we too can then care with them; we certainly don't want to sense that we have *more* invested in the outcome than they do. We all knew that Tiger was driven to win in that way, as was Jordan, and Jimmy Connors etc -- that's why they were exciting to watch. Now, I think that it's certain that Scottie cares too (as Jack did), or else there is no way he/they could win so much; and yet, Scottie -- like Jack -- seems so well adjusted, so well-rounded, so sane and balanced and with a healthy perspective on themselves and on life (with both of them nurturing wife and family and faith etc.) that it can appear that they don't *need* to win in order to be happy, i.e., that their sense of identity and of self-worth and of well-being is not totally wrapped up in the results they achieve....in short, that it's *not* the most important thing in the world for then. And I think that's a great quality to have in life and it also helps/helped them win so often -- but it's not exactly 'dramatic'.
  2. I like the look, too. But sometimes I wonder: if there was no golfwrx, and no golfwrx types milling about, would there ever have been any such thing as a mini driver? I imagine in OEM boardrooms around the country, something like: 'So, let me get this straight, Jim: it's smaller than a driver but larger than a fairway wood?' - Yes, that's right. 'I see. In other words, it's *neither* a driver nor a 3 wood, is that what you"re saying?' - I couldn't have put it better myself, Bob. 'Ah. Okay, then I think you'll have to help me out here, Jim, because I'm not sure I can see this. I would get with this, what should we call it, this 'mini driver', I would get less distance and forgiveness off the tee than with a driver, and I'd also find it harder to hit off the deck and from tight lies than just about any 3 wood ever produced. Is that what your envisioning?' - Exactly, Bob. Exactly! 'A revolution in golf club design, is what you're saying?' - A true revolution! 'A brand new idea that no OEM has ever before dared to try' - A daringly new idea, yes! (Pause) 'And who's going to *buy* this club, Jim - this not-a-driver-but-not-a-fairway-wood? (Pause) 'Let me put it more clearly: exactly 'who, and by 'who' I mean actual consumers in the mass marketplace, as we currently understand that term, will find appeal in a new category of club design that literally offers them the *worst* of both worlds?' (Pause) - I hear you, Bob,iI really do. It seems completely counterintuitve, right? 'You took the words out of mouth, Jim' - Yes. Yes, but except for this, Bob. Except for a new website that has just exploded onto the scene, and .....
  3. Yes, well executed. And these would be my cup of tea, except for the blue. A matter of personal taste, of course, but I think for golf apparel especially, I'd like to see tans and browns and earth tones and shades of greens -- in short, colours that one associates with nature and a golf course and a game that's played outside on grass and amid trees. There aren't many things blue on a golf course except maybe water -- and unless it's in a water bottle I hardly ever want to interact with water there, as nothing good ever comes from it. Plus, blue on shoes makes me think of a blue suit, which reminds me of businessmen and politicians and 'the real world' - which is actually the world I'm trying to forget about by playing golf!
