The Ping adapter is already among the smallest/lightest you can get -> don't know where they could shave off more weight. I've read several complaints here about shafts coming out of adapters as the insertion length is so short and you have the collared Ping ferulle. One needs to be extra diligent in shaft tip prep & cleaning, cleaning of the inside of the adapter, and the mixing / application / curing of epoxy. I have never had one fail on me, but have assembled plenty of them and can see how it could easily happen.

5g of grip weight ( or tape weight ) is about 1 SWP. That is a helluvalot of tape discrepancy ( and shear amount of tape ) from one brand to the next to account 2 SWP. I'd regrip with the matching grip to the rest of your irons.
