AD-DI Flex

Hello everyone, sadly I had my clubs stolen from garage a few days ago. Insurance will be covering it and I will be getting all new clubs. I am looking at putting an AD-DI 6SR in a 913 head. I'm coming from the Axivcore Blue in my 910 head. My SS is in the range of 92-100. My typical ball flight with my driver and woods is a mid sort of draw/push draw. I was wondering how DI-6SR plays to flex. I felt like with the Axivcore shaft, I had absolutely no problems turning the ball from right to left and had lots of feel. I have read that the DI plays soft to flex ? But I have also read that some no matter what have a tough time turning the ball over with this shaft. Can any of you give me some feedback ? Thanks.

UPDATE:

I went to the local Titleist fitting center today and hit a couple shafts. In the end, it was no contest. The VTS Red was hands down my favourite shaft that I hit. It had excellent feel and gave the ballflight I was looking for. My runner up was the Diamana S+. The DI 6 and 5 I didn't like very much. The DI 5 launched too high for me and I didn't like the feel of the DI 6. Anyway thank you for all your help.

I don't think the DI plays soft to flex but some people (myself included) think it feels a little softer because it's not as tip stiff as other shafts I've played. I would bet it would CPM right around the same as other shafts in the same flex range but the softer tip gives it a smoother feel and more of a "kick" at impact. If it has been tipped it is a completely different animal and behaves completely differently so tipping is very important.

I would think the "smoother" feel wouldn't make it hard to turn over but I also have no experience with the AXIVCore Blue either so I can't compare.

The DI is a great shaft and there's a reason why so many people use it.

It's my understanding the axivcore blue is a lot softer tipped (higher launching) than the ADDI so would not think it would be the best replacement if you really liked the blue. Last bend profile chart I remember seeing had the ADDI not too far off from the AxivCore green. I'd make sure you get a chance to demo the ADDI before actually purchasing it.

The Kiyoshi White is a fabulous shaft, but does come out almost a whole flex firmer than the equivalent Tour Ad DI, so a Kiyoshi White 04 (Stiff), flexes out very close indeed to the AD DI X Flex. The Tour Ad Di SR flex is very soft in the mid section, and this makes it feel very loose indeed. Another option could be the Aldila Tour Blue. My own SS is not that much more than the OP's @ 103-105mph, and I cannot use the DI in a Stiff flex, it's far too soft in the mid section for my personal swing. If the OP has an easy transition and very smooth tempo then he may just get by with the SR Flex, but I would suggest, as others have said, to definitely try before you buy!
Agreed, the DI is not tip soft but it does have an active mid and lower mid section giving it its kick, I expect the SR may be tough to find to try but most fit carts have the DI6s so if you are able to try the stiff you will have a good idea if it would work or whether you will need to go with the SR

Hey everyone, thanks for the quick and informative replies. I'm not looking for a close replacement for the Axivcore Blue, The shaft felt good and was easy to turn over, but isn't exactly what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a mid/high launch shaft that i can turn over. Another shaft I was looking at was the Fubuki K series. I'm a little confused at the specs. On the Mitsubishi Rayon site, it's listed as a high kickpoint low launch. On the Titleist chart it's a higher launch shaft.

I had a Fubuki K, and whilst the marriage was a love/hate one, I can see its virtues. Its a very decent shaft, and was a mid launching shaft for me. Had to go to X Flex, as the feel of the S Flex was a little like the DI, a little sloppy. Around Mid launch for me. Another option to have a look at is the UST VTS, it gets some love on here, a little soft to flex imo, so you may want a Stiff flex, but its reasonably priced, and an excellent offering. If you want a mid/high launching shaft, then also consider the Oban Kiyoshi Purple, and Oban Kiyoshi Gold. Also Aldila will have new offering out in a month or two called the ATX Tour Red.

Few other options there for you to consider.
In my experience, which differed from others in another thread, the fubuki k spun and launched higher than the DI both 60gram x flex versions.

How does the DI 6 SR or even S compare to the Diamana S+ 62 ? I have hit the Diamana before and really liked it.

The DI is a weird shaft. I think someone mentioned it above, but getting the tipping right on it is CRITICAL to it feeling right for you. More important than almost any other shaft I've played.

I goofed around with a 6SR and an 6S for a while. Both felt soft to me, but it was really my tempo. I think that's why you'll see such a gap between people that rave about them and people that think they are over-rated.

Anyway... I finally sold the RS because it *felt* too soft for me... Which caused me to press harder, which thrashed my swing more... And then, convinced I could get the S where I wanted it, I tipped it until it was too wonkey in my driver.. As a last ditch effort to keep it, I dumped it into a 4W and it's one of the best shafts I have now.. For a 4W. I think it's been in 3 4W heads and made all of them hit light years better than what came with them. Go figure...

IMHO, the S+ feels very different and supports a broader range of player. And it comes stock in the 913. If you liked it before, I'd get the 913 with the S+ and see how it feels before tracking down a DI...

Good luck!

I will be going to the local Titleist fitting center in 2 days, I really liked the feel of the Axivcore Blue shaft. Somebody suggested the UST VTS, after reading about it quite a bit, I'd like to try it. Can anybody give some feedback on it ? As in feel, tip stiffness and overall looks at address. On Friday I'm going to try the Diamana S+ 62, DI 6S (they don't have the SR) and DI 5. If they have the VTS I will try it too, I have been mainly looking at VTS red and silver.
