Tee shot went left of left. He's aimed soooo far left. Wedged it close then made birdie though. Who knows

I hope there's no lock. I'm trying to fathom why this swing is being considered?

He did it just to screw with you.
It's working.

Ya I agree. I feel like when he starts swinging bad, he starts aiming more and more left. I think he starts to drop it inside as a result of him aiming so far left which causes his blocks and hooks. I would like to see him aim down the left center and hit a nice little pull fade.

His swing just doesn't look right at all...

He would agree - He tossed his driver in that bush next to the #2 tee box

yup the drop inside from that deep an arm swing and he starts popping up fairway woods, or thin-topping iron shots from fairway bunkers, just like on the first hole today. When his talent is matched to the right swing for him he'll win everything again.
sorry, dumb question here, but what do you mean by "deep" arms?

thanks

it seems amazing to me that Tiger still doesn't own a fade after all the time he's spent with sean. I know he's not swinging well right now, but still. so many shots starting left that don't move back at all....

Shoulder turn still way too vertical on downswing.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

He said after his round that he's been working on shortening his backswing.

"I've always played my best from a shorter position," he added.

"Looking back at my younger days on tour it as even shorter than it is now, the only difference is I can't wheel on it like I used to.

"I used to snap the knee at the end to get the power, if I did that now I'd destroy the knee just like I did before. That's one of the reasons why I've had so many operations on it."

Monte/swing gurus

What will shortening his backswing allow him to do? Keep the arm's in front?

Tiger you are 38 not 78...move on. I'm sorry but he has to quit with the excuses.

Apparently he doesn't look at his old swings much. When he was with Butch his hands were high with the driver and the club shaft was almost parallel to the ground at the top. It was not that short, take a look... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7Zxn24P35M

I am sure he cannot go after it like he used to because of the knee, but just play. Get all the technical garbage out of your head and quit the BS.

You don't get distance by the snapping the knee by the way. Ridiculous.
I still don't know what that means.

Closer to the heels during what portion of the swing?

Does he set up with his hands too close to his body (and closer to his heels)?

At the top of his swing are his hands too low (closer to his heels)?

When he hits the ball are his hands too low and inside?

I saw that video once of him talking about "swinging left" and in part of that he was explaining that if your whole package is "tighter", arms closer in, you'll turn faster, like an ice skater.

Yes which means no spine tilt and big divots. Hard to control wedges and hit draw...high draw anyways...

And needing to aim way left and having cuts not cut.

His short game and putting was very solid today which is wasn't at Torrey. I can't wait for the day that I shoot a 68 and then get flame by all the critics because of my less than perfect swing.

No doubt his swing is different and the stock fade isn't there but give him some credit for posting a 68.

BTW...not a TW fan.
