Great looking bag, did you go pro 6-pw? Like you, I am foaming at the mouth to get these on the range let alone on the course. I realize this is an extremely biased opinion, but I think these are some of the best looking irons on the market. Definitely the best looking irons I have ever owned.

Thanks man! Yeah I went 6-PW pro. The transition between 5 and 6 has always been the toughest for me so that was a no brainer! I also agree that they are undoubtedly the best looking irons I've owned. The word I think of when I look at them is just "sexy." Lol it's supposed to be 50 on Sunday so these will get a good range session then! Congrats on your purchase!

quick question to the poster who mentioned shipping new clubs without the grips. If you specify D2 swingweight, i assume that will be the weight had they installed the grips? i'm wondering because I would like to do the same, but only if you can still request swingweight as if they were installed.
I did not specify weight, as they are already listed as D2 on the website. I took them over to my club builder and dropped them off today to get my pure p2 grips installed. I actually ordered the grips separately because I knew I was going to put the p2 grips on and I did not want to have to cut off 8 brand new grips. I will Swing weight all the irons when I go pick them up either Monday or Tuesday, and post the SW back in this thread. It is going to be a high temp of 22* here on Sunday and 17* on Monday, so I am not in a huge rush to get them back. My club guy also has a trackman, so I am going to try to get with him next week and go thru each iron to make sure they are spec'd out correctly. I am a little worried about that 6 degree gap between the Apex 7i and Apex pro 8i as you can really notice a big difference just looking down at them.
Just ordered ap2's and have a set of pure p2's waiting for them. Never thought to have them send them without grips. I did get GP tour wrap 2g's in hopes they are similar and I dont need to cut them off.

I was also wondering if you had the non-pros bent to match the lofts better. Sounds like you did not.

I'm finally in the market for a new set of irons and I'm currently deciding between the Apex and the Apex Pros. It's interesting to see a lot of people going with the combo set. I haven't seen the 7-PW in the Apex Pro yet, so I'm curious as to how they look at address versus the Apex. I don't really mind the downlook so much of the Apex, but the PW did seem a little...bulky I guess. I may have to take a peak at the Pro in the scoring irons before I order my set.

I was out of work for about a month since moving back to NJ and since I work in a pro shop with a range I did most of my swinging there. I started back up after my transfer went through, but my swing took a hit! I've been able to practice and work on my swing again, but I'm not striking as consistently anymore, which is why I'm leaning towards the regular Apex right now. However, the Apex Pros definitely appeal more to my eye. That's why I'm now thinking of doing the combo set. Possibly the 4-5 Apex and 6-PW Pro.

I'm gonna have a go with both again tonight and see if I can get a look at the scoring irons of the Pros.

Per the recommendation of the Callaway customer service rep and Discount Dans, I left the lofts alone. It was recommended that I hit them first and then have them bent based on my needs. If I have any of the irons bent, it will probably be the 6 & 7 irons bent weaker.

I was fit for my combo set at Callaway HQ. My split is between the 6 & 7 iron. I did not see an abnormal gap between those irons on the Callaway launch monitor, or in the 10 rounds that I have played with the new irons. I'm seeing about a 12 yard gap. The Callaway fitter said that most people are not needing to adjust the lofts.

Here's a tip - add up the money you've spent on it, subtract the amount you could get for resale of what you own today, and write down that number.

If that number is more per year than you spend on actually playing golf, green fees, balls, etc., you've probably hit ho-dom. Remind yourself of that number, and think of the golf vacation it would have paid for, and you'll recover soon.

That is good to hear, I really hope I don't have to adjust the lofts. I am not hung up on the lofts being exact numbers. If I am hitting the clubs the correct distances, that is all I am concerned with. Which shaft did you go with?

I think I've decided on what I'm going to do. Going to go with the Apex 4-5, Apex Pro 6-PW, Project X PXi shafts. I hit the 4-5 of the Apex tonight and was very consistent. I could hit the Apex Pro 6 iron fairly consistently as well. I was actually pretty surprised. Loved the feel of the Pros.

Here is my story. In December I ordered the Titleist 714 CB 5-7/MB 8-PW with KBS C-Tapers. Then a buddy gave me the Apex irons to hit for the hell of it. They felt great. I kinda had buyers regrets about the 714s (well not really).

To make a long story short, I'm walking through the PGA Tour Superstore this weekend and there is a used set of Apex irons on the rack in mint condition, barely used for $599 (4-PW) with Regular flex XP 95 shafts. Then I find out all used cubs have an additional 25% discount on them. Wrong shafts and wrong flex, but for $450 how can I pass that up. I could probably make $200-300 on them by just listing them on eBay as is.

So I now call my Dad and ask him if he wants them. I know these clubs are not going to fit his 68 year old swing. The shafts are too heavy and the heads are probably not forgiving enough for him. I tell him if he doesn't like them I will buy them back from him. The deal is too good and even if I throw in new shafts for the 4-PW, I'm still ahead of the game on a set that retails for $1,100.

You could probably pick up a good set of shaft pulls off the bay for less than $150, and depending on what shaft you want to go with, probably a lot less. Not a bad deal for a like new set of these irons.

Even at full cost for the KBS C Tapers I'm only throwing $200 on top of the $450 I paid (assuming I get them back from my Dad). I'm still ahead of the game. But I will be searching eBay.

Topic pretty much says it all. It has been a while since I have ordered a new set of irons built to my specs, and man does it feel good when they finally show up on your door step. I will say this, the pro's look REALLY good......I mean really good. I had only seen a demo 6 iron in the pro's, until these showed up. I had hit the demo 6 iron in both the standard and pro irons, so I ordered based on my specs and doing some research as to which shaft to go with (went with the KBS tour v 120x ssx1). I am so glad I went with the pro's in the 8-aw as they look so much better than standard Apex in those irons. I like the standard Apex up to the 7 iron, but after that the look just does not fit my eye. I can't wait to get these out on the course, now if this crappy weather here in Missouri would just go away!

03-03-14

Picked up my new babies today from my club builder and had some Pure p2 grips installed, and had the swing weight checked on all the irons. The SW came in at d2 in the longer irons and d3 in the shorter clubs, just how I wanted. I also had my club guy measure the flex on the 4i, 6i, and the 8i and those 3 spec'd out like they had been frequency matched. I did not get to do all the clubs as he was busy, but he did say that he rarely sees irons that are factory built that frequency match, so that was good to know. I had the KBS tour v 120x ssx1 installed, and these are plenty firm......very butt stiff...glad I soft stepped them. I got to hit a few in his hitting bay, and while they felt good, I am going to wait until I get a few rounds in before doing a review on performance, as I have not played golf in over 3 months. My set make up is Apex 4-7i and pro 8i-aw. Here are a few pics to show how they setup.
Sorry for the crooked pics, still not that adept on uploading pics from the iPad.

03-05-14
First range session with this setup. I really like the KBS tour v shaft, it gives a mid-high ball flight on the mid and long irons, and a high but controlled flight on the shorter irons. I am really glad I went with the 120x ssx1 as I love the weight and feel of these shafts......I was a bit worried that the shafts may be too much for me as they are really butt stiff, but based on the ball flight I was getting, I no longer have that worry. I can definitely tell a difference in the standard Apex irons vs the pros. The pros have more of a thump solid feel and the Apex have a solid but a bit clicker feel. I will say that the range I hit at has really crap range balls......pretty much nothing but top flite, molitor, and other old range rocks, so the slightly clickier feel of the standard apex will probably be offset by my game ball (Prov1x/Lethal). I was hitting off of mats as we still have snow on the ground, but it did get to 52* today so I was at least able to get outside. Of the few decent balls I had in my bucket, I could tell the ball flight is exactly what I was looking for....mid/high with lower spin than my previous irons. I do think I will need to weaken my 6i & 7i by 1 degree to match up a bit better with my 8-aw pros, but all in all, the distance gap is not bad. First impressions are very positive, and even with the cold weather, and the hard range balls, the feel is really good with this setup. My SS with a 6i is 90-92 mph for the guys that are considering the tour v 120x.
