Basically I had to lay the groundwork for it. I had to fix posture at address, wider backswing etc that alone didnt fix it though, you have to really work on finding a feel or something that works for you on downswing, thats the bad part about it, you almost have to dig it out of the dirt by practicing and knowing what feels work for you. Someone telling you to keep your left wrist pointed at the sky might not do anything for you. Go to a good instructor that gives you really good fundamentals, work on those and know how the swing is suppose to look. I will say this, most people are too bent over at address.

I made sure I had those solid fundmentals in the backswing/posture which could lead to a proper downswing that way I wasnt doing so much trial an error with a flawed backswing. When the proper downswing didnt happen I had to make some slight tweaks on my downswing. I would normally go from a good backswing position to steep on the downswing so I tried from solid position at top butt end pointing at ball to almost feel like a plane shift under, the shift under really pushes my butt back. I feel like Im swinging like Gary woodland and when I look at it on film, goes from a good position at top to a proper downswing on plane and I have alot of swing speed and power. Feels really balanced to me

How about a slo-mo swing? Haha this is awesome! Good work!
[/quote]

Thanks, It really does feel ilke Im trying to swing like Gary woodland. Nice address posistion, wide backswing, keep in sync at top, then like a plane shift under than pushes your butt back. If you watch Gary Woodlands swing, he has this nice plane shift under on the downswing it just goes into the slot, right elbow gets in front etc

I've found that the downswing thought of getting the hands and arms away from the body and towards the ball has helped me immensely; arms coming from the inside of course. Fixing my arm plane from steep (hands too close to the body, causing me to stand and hump and arm stall) to shallow (arms go away from the body and towards the ball with plenty of room to turn the corner). The arms will naturally turn the corner and the club will square.

This thought was counter-intuitive to me at the beginning... but my body began creating the proper space correctly.

I was a big time EE/Goat humper..... My head would drop almost 4-6inches, no spine angle consistency, hit shanks and fats, would flip all kinds of messes....I am working on fixing it. I focused on firing the hips and maintaining spine angle through the swing.....

look how much my head drops on the takeaway yikes...

First picture, right heel is down, hips not open at all, spine angle is vertical or really bowed all kinds of mess, using all upper body arms to save angle coming is over the top.... damn... just a mess LOL

eap6.png

More current, Right heal is up, hips more open at impact, better spine maintenance and my head does not drop 6inches... All because I watched and recorded my swing and focused on getting the hips to fire earlier! It really helped.

They look the same except your right heel is up. I do not see more open hips at all.

LOL its a work in progress... its getting a little better. Heel coming off means Im turning the hips more, maybe not the best screen shot, but if you compare the 2 videos you can see a pretty big difference I think...LOL

also something else with the hips firing, the right elbow stays in towards my hip, the other photo my elbow is far away due to me standing up in the swing (EE) and trying to reach for the ball...at that point I would be loosing shaft lean and flipping.

You might feel that you are swinging like Woodland but at impact you are nothing like him at all:

Notice how he has gone beyond his original tush line, and how his hips are open.Compare the shoulder girdle positions, upper left arm, right leg, right foot and spine angles. Look at the difference in shaft angle in relation to the shaft plane line as well.

Elbow is closer because right heel is up, posture is straighter and you early extend more (right hip is closer to the ball now at impact). Right heel up does not mean hips rotate more. Sorry.

You are taking it too literal, It's a feel, I'm not saying I swing like woodland. I've watched woodland at tournaments I've gone to and really noticed how he like plane shifted on the downswing, besides the point of this thread is overcoming EE and steepness

Yikes....and I thought I was getting better :WTF: LOL..... Hmm back to the drawing board again I guess.......guess I can say I fixed my head dropping thing though.... did you look at the 2 videos? I can see what you mean based on the screen shots, but with the video you can really see my head drop and the change in spine angle and the early extension?

Choke down on a 6 iron below the grip and take a swing. Three things should happen, back swing should be really short, transition should be very slow, and EE should be greatly reduced. I think EE is caused from too much early club head momentum in the transition (counting right before the back swing ends to when the hands are waist high).

I had an insane amount of EE 3 years ago and it's still there, but the slower more controlled I swing the better it is getting.

You might as well feel you are swinging like Charles Barkley then, you are so off from your model. You may be on the tush line but there is still a lot of work to do. You made the comment. Now you get defensive when it is pointed out you aren't there.

Yes, the point of the thread is overcoming EE. There have been some good EE threads on the forum. There are many reasons why people do it. Oten the reasons are physical.

It is easy to early extend from a shallow approach as well. So getting rid of the steepness may or may not help others.

I realise that you are excited by staying on your tush line but there are more than "little things" to work on that are shown by those images. I started to show how different you were to Woodland in the close to P5 image as well but, because of your last post, decided not to. You can only see what you know. Your instructor will have some important things for you to work on. Just telling it as it is.

dunno why the hate there, you're using woodlands swing as an image for what to do, similar to someone wanting to drop it more inside may picture sergios swing in their head etc, not copying it exactly. whatever works for u my friend, certainly some great angles at impact, looks really solid, great work!
