2014 Top Flite Gamer & Gamer Soft

Haven't seen any threads on these so I thought I would start one to discuss.

I know in the past the Gamer is usually well received on here. Curious how the 2014 version stacks up.

I believe at my local DSG they were 2 for $30 or 2 for $35. Somewhere in that ballpark. The yellow is the same shade as last year's yellow.

Does the Gamer Tour S have a urethene cover? If not, I wonder if it is closer to the old V2 surlyn cover which was a great ball around the green.

I just logged onto the forum to start researching balls. I have been playing last years Gamer and while happy with the distance, I think I get too much roll out on chips and pitches. I will pick up the new version and see if I have the same problem. In the mean time, any recommendations for a ball to try? 90 SS with the driver, reasonable straight, medium ball flight. Oh yea, I am also cheap, so no Pro V1. I have been looking at the B330 series, can't remember which model off the top of my head.

Hopefully the 2014 Gamer will have some of the old V2 spin and at 2 dozen for $30 its hard to beat. My SS is 85-90 and I had good results from the Gamer Tour, which TF may be giving up on since they did not update the cover for 2014 which does tend to shred, but so do many urethene balls. I would recommend the RBZ U which has been replaced by the Project (a) (a few more $ at $31.99). I also have a dozen Maxflu U/3's which are $24.95 at Dicks.

Bridgestone E5 might work for you.

Just a heads up. Found out today that the gamer from dicks is the exact same as the v2. Same factory and everything. Had a buddy that works fordicks look into if it was being made by their maxfli factory. He said in the sale they got the factory as well

That would be great news! When they came out with the 2013 Gamer and it had little spin, I went to the Gamer Tour. However, the distance on the V2 is better for me and it had excellent spin around the green.

he is telling me that the 2013 is the EXACT same ball as the V2... the new gamer is supposed to be an improvement. but the one from lastyear was the same.

i know a lot of people said it was different, but it could have been the placebo effect or whatever. The new one is supposed to have the better spin and better flight characteristics. They are also going to be supplying the Remax World Long Drive Champ thing (all the contestants were using that slazenger 120 compression ball last year when I watched one) so they are probably going to make sure the ball is as good as it ever has been for whatever ball they use....

Picked up 2 dozen of the Gamer Soft today. Got them cheap and will play them on Sunday. I am interested to see how they compare to the Callaway SuperSoft.

Try Srixon's Trispeed Tour which are being discountinued. Currently priced 2 dozen for $35 at GG and Dick's. At this price they're worth a shot

Yes I did. Played them yesterday against the Callaway SS. The SS went farther and straighter off the driver but the balls were about equal on irons and greenside play. Not a lot of check on wedges but not bad. Putted better with the SS but that could have been a mental thing. Overall they are not bad but I think I'm sticking with the SS for the rest of the summer.

I still have a Few Gamer Tours from last year and a dozen 2014 U/3's to try this season. I have been watching the Gamer Tour offering and Dicks web site is offering the old Gamer Tour, while the Top-Flite web site show a different box (similar to the other 2014 TF offerings) and states that the cover has been improved for more durability. Has anyone seen the 2014 Gamer Tour for sale at Dicks or Golf Galaxy?

Thanks. They either have a surplus of the 2013 models, are having trouble producing the 2014 Gamer Tour, or its wishful thinking. Not a big problem for me while trying out the U/3's, and the 2013 Gamer Tour is still an excellent ball if the U/3's don't knock my socks off.

I have not, but the published ball specs are exactly the same. I also am not sure if the 2013 Gamer is the same as the 2014 - when I saw the spin numbers from GD's ball test for 2013 I gave them up and jumped on the Gamer Tour.

i played the yellow gamer.... it spun JUST like the V2 that I still have 3 of.

Are the Gamer Soft already being pulled? For what its worth the 2014 Golf Digest rated it gold. The ball is nowhere to be found on Golf Galaxy's website. The TopFlite site also does not list it. The Dick's website has it listed but my local Dick's did not have the ball in stock. Very strange. Anybody hear anything?

Just picked up one of each (gamer & gamer soft) at Dick's buy one get one free w/ no tax (tax free weekend in MA). Interested to try these out. I usually play titleist balls but I've had some of my best rounds lately w/ some Top Flites.

I don't think that the soft or tour have enough of an advantage around the green compared to the "regular" to sacrifice the driver spin and distance loss. I like the Gamer Yellow.

Uh oh. Gamer Soft does not appear on websites for Dick's or Golf Galaxy. Demand outstripping supply or end of the product? (Which would be odd since the ball just won a Gold award from Golf Digest).
