Daddy Long Legs Testimonial

I've had my Daddy Long Legs putter for exactly two months now. So I've used it for something like 15 out of my last 16 rounds. Looking through a few rounds for which I had putting stats before the change (from a conventional 33" Scottsdale TR Tatum or TP Mill Trad II) and a few rounds since, the difference is Strokes-Gained Putting is pretty minor. It's probably saving me a stroke a round on average, something in that neighborhood.

 

But just these last couple of rounds something has clicked. I think it's going to be in the bag for a long time and next time I gather four or five rounds worth of stats (in May or June) I'm sure it will show even more than a stroke improvement over my previous putting.

 

The main thing that was driving me crazy with my putting was the frequent three-putts from 30, 40, 50 feet. I have several of those putts per round because my home course has really large, segmented greens and I'm not a very precise ball-striker (to say the least). It had gotten to where I was three-putting one or two of those each round plus the occasional three-putt from shorter range. Just not acceptable.

 

I've now had one three putt in my last 54 holes and that one was an occasion where I was above the hole and it literally was not possible to keep the ball on the green. Other than that, the Daddy Long Legs makes putting from 3-6 feet so easy that it takes all the pressure off my lag putting. I can miss the line and/or the speed of a long approach putt by three feet and be almost 100% sure of making the second putt.

 

I don't think the Daddy Long Legs gives me any better "touch" on long lag putts than my conventional putters. But after a few weeks of getting used to it, I am certainly no worse. So it's basically like money in the bank inside six feet while having no downside at all on longer putters. I'm a big fan!

What length did you go with?

Mine's the 35", which would be what Taylormade would recommend since my conventional putters are all either 32-1/2" or 33". Although I did not know about that recommendation at the time. I just couldn't putt a lick with the 38" one when trying them in the store.

I'm really excited to hear that, Fourmyle. I just picked up a 35" DLL yesterday. I'm coming from an old Lynx LXP 747 that did me well for so many years, but my putting stats this year have been troubling. Definitely time to experiment when you have 40-41 putts per round and still score in the low 80's. I'll be a happy camper once I get things settled on the green. Interested to hear about how the DLL treats you in the coming months.
