Vokey TVD vs. SM4/ SM5

As a longtime user of Vokey wedges, I have never looked into the TVD options. Can someone who has used both explain the differences between these and the regular SM's? ls the extra money worth it for TVD's?

Not really alot of difference both TVD's (M and K) play with slightly less bounce than their SM brothers, head shape is a little different. Not too much other than that

I am a big fan of TVD m grinds, very versatile for me anyways. Never had a non TVD m so not sure I can help

I like the look of the tvd's but $160 each?! Come on titleist! Be reasonable...

What's your take on the differences between the TVD's and regular SM's?[/quote] different finishes both the TVD grinds have a little less bounce than the corresponding sm grind shapes a hair different, some people think the TVD's feel a bit better I don't really notice though. Even though you can customize the standard sm's I think the TVD's are geared more towards this. I currently am waiting on a 54s @53 and a 58L @59 but am still interested to see the new wedge works options in May

For me, the shape of the head (throat and sole) is better with the TVD-K versus SM5 K. I have both, and could use both, but prefer the TVD. I also have 2 special grind 60-M's (pre-dates TVD??) that have a little different head shape and the grind is a bit different as noted before. I personally prefer the TVD's, but the SM5's are great options, and I would be very happy using them.

From my previous use, the TVD was far more versatile. From hardpan to soggy conditions, full shots to half shots, bunker play to chips…they could just do it all.

I went from five straight sets of TVD's to Edel, and I'm on the border of coming back. The TVD is just that versatile.

I cant speak for the SM5s but compared to the SM4s the TVD are night and different for me. I played M grind 56 and S grind 60 in the SM4 and now i have two M grind TVDs. The TVDs feel much softer, spin more, and look better to my eye from address. I would never go back to SM4 after using the TVDs. I am looking forward to seeing the SM5 TVDs soon.
