Just a Little News I Wanted To Share With Fellow WRXers!

So I haven't really shared much of my personal life on this board. Aside from a few posts about getting into golf thanks to my father, where I work, and a few pictures of the pets we've had, I rarely post outside of equipment and deal topics.

 

For the past two years, my wife and I have been trying to get pregnant. Month after month, we experienced a lot of heartache after seeing negative test results at home, using the "old fashioned" method of conception. We visited with two different OB/GYNs to seek advice, and even visited with endocrinologists. My wife has albanism, and we wondered if, due to family history of irregular cycles and fertility, that maybe it compounded some genetic issues. No viable information from that point led us to seek help from a fertility specialist.

 

In January we elected to have my wife undergo a procedure to "prime" her ovaries, seeing as how she responded well to medications our specialist prescribed. We tried two more months of old fashioned work alongside meds and still came up empty. Finally, last month we opted to try IUI, basically to get all the swimmers competing closer to the finish line. We had our blood/hormone test done last Monday and the results were positive! Before getting too excited, we had to go through a follow-up test to ensure the HCG/Estrogen/Progesterone levels were increasing as they should. Initial results showed all three levels to be well above the fertility specialist's baseline for pregnancy, and as of last Wednesday, the numbers had more than doubled! We immediately celebrated by going out and buying our first set of baby items (some bibs haha!) just because we finally felt the exhilaration of being pregnant the rush of emotions.

 

Fast forward to today: we went in this morning for another blood draw, as our specialist will monitor the first nine weeks, and this afternoon we go in for an ultrasound for the scary part- finding out just how many spawn we've created! My wife and I are actually hoping for twins, and it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities since the specialist insisted on us having three mature follicles before executing the IUI procedure.

 

 

TL;DR - I'm going to be a dad! I'm so stoked for this! I need to plan for the future... Ping or Nike junior set? Or cut down my own/old clubs? Visor, flat bill, or traditional curved caps? I can't wait to take my child(ren) to their first tournament to watch pros, even if it's for 30min and they get hot and tired and hungry. And I can't wait to have them along for a cart ride and putting at a young age the way my dad let me tag along as a kid. I see Kadin's thread about his children and I get excited thinking that could be my reality in a short time!

Congrats man! I have a 1.5 year old girl and my wife is pregnant right now and is due any time. Its gonna be a fun ride. Just be ready for minimal sleep and you will be all set. My daughter already has a plastic set she swings around outside. I cant wait to take her on the course this year in the cart with me. hopefully she can handle it for a few holes. Its funny tho when I ask her if she wants to play with her clubs she picks it up like normal and takes a preety normal stance, but before she swings she feels the need to sit down and swing....lol. O well shell come around sometime.

Congrats!! I know the frustration first hand. We went the IVF route after 5 years of negative tests and now have 4yo twin boys. Just got them their first wedges last month. Can t wait to take them to the course.

Congrats! It took my wife and I a while as well, but it finally happened naturally for us and he'll be 5 months old on the 4/19! It has definitely been a life changer but I wouldn't have it any other way. He's at the stage where all you have to do is make eye contact with him and he'll flash a big old toothless smile! Melts your heart every time! Also, be prepared for some higher golf scores as playing and practice time will probably diminish at first (at least it has for me). But that's a small price to pay...not like we're getting paid to play the game!

Also...I have him watching golf with me any chance I get in hopes that it will get ingrained in his brain during these high developmental times

Congratz! I got another little rugrat due in mid-July to add to the two I already have. Fatherhood has been one of most rewarding experiences I've had so far! Just enjoy the time you'll have when they're young... they grow up WAY too fast

There is nothing better....as soon as you find out the sex, I recommend you run out and buy him/her (or hopefully, THEM) a set of clubs. No cut down hand me downs...come on now, they deserve the best!!!!
