Just a Little News I Wanted To Share With Fellow WRXers!

I always tell everyone being a Dad is 50X more fun and 50X tougher than I had even imagined.
Enjoy every second. Mine are soon to be 12 and 16 and it seems like a blink of an eye since they were born.

Best job (and most important) in the world.

My "little girl" is all grown up. 25 now. Still calls her Dad when she needs advice and just a shoulder to lean on. I missed a lot of her growing up because of my job. When she graduated from college we were sitting down chatting and looking through photo albums. There is a photo of a little girl who had drowned and we managed to get her back. Her mom brought her in to meet me and I got my pic with her. My daughter sees the photo and says "Dad, did I ever tell you how proud I am? And that I know why you missed some of my birthday parties? Just had to let you know I get it Dad. And thanks."

Meant the world to me.

You never know what mark you are leaving on them; when and/or how. So like I said, most important job in the world. And frankly the coolest. Watching her grow up and become an independent woman with a mind of her own, a great career, and the belief that she must treat others with love and respect; most rewarding portion of my life. And that, my friend, is what you are in for.

Once again SINCERE CONGRATS!!!! To you, your wife and Mom to be, and to your entire extended family who will be welcoming another new member into the fold.

Oh, and thanks for sharing buddy. Good stuff. Really good stuff!

Congrats. My college roommate went through the same thing with his wife. He called me a little freaked out to tell me his wifey was pregnant......with triplets.

They're 2 1/2 now and he's having the time of his life.....hasn't slept in a few years but is loving life.

Congrats man! Good news indeed! I can relate to your situation. It took us 10 years and several miscarriages before we found the right doctor who figured out what was going on. Our little one is now about to turn 10! It will all go by fast! Take it all in and enjoy. You are now truely blessed!

Congrats man. I have two kids . My boy, who just turned 7 yesterday, loves golf and always wants to go out with me. My daughter is almost two and already like to take my putter and hit the ball around or grab a kids putter at golftown and hit it on their putting green. My kids are the best thing in my life and bring me joy like nothing else. Being a parent is the best thing in the world.

Thanks all, it's crazy to think that in a week we'll witness heartbeats! Makes the word "dad" really hit home. I'm visiting my dad and sisters for Easter, and first thing he usually says is, "Hi, son." And today it was "Hi, Daddy." Very surreal!

Congrats! I have a 4 year old and we had identical twin girls a little over a year ago, and it was the shock of our lives. Twins are crazy, but awesome. I can't imagine my life would be without all three and can't remember what we did with our time before kids!

Well, we went in today and heard a heartbeat! My wife and I were both mid sentence when doc said "here's the heartbeat" and we both stopped making any noise and just listened. I almost lost it at that moment! He/she had a good 129bpm going, and doc said we jumped from 80% chance of live birth to 90-95%. Exciting day!

Sweet!!! Another ultrasound or two and it'll start to look like an alien!!! Then after that it turns into a little person. Fun times for sure.

Congratulations to you and your wife. Never had any children, but have bought a few plastic "sets" of clubs, the latest given to my next door neighbor's son. Also have given a lot of golf stuff I've accumulated to nieces and nephews.

My Dad was a great guy, I was very fortunate. We were pals until he passed in 2005, at age 85. Every day, I think of him.

I'm sure you'll be as great a Dad as mine. (and Mom will be great, too.)

Well, we made our announcement to as many friends and family via social media on Sunday. Thankfully our four legged child didn't mind helping out. He's been laying on the couch with my wife and resting his head on her belly (I think he knows). We go in tomorrow for our last ultrasound with our specialist before continuing through birth with my wife's ObGyn. We have heard the heartbeat a couple times now and our baby looks to take after it's mother in being an overachiever. Heartbeat and levels all seem above average.

Had our last visit with the specialist yesterday: saw hands and feet wiggling around, as well as the cord working its magic to feed the baby. Hear rate was at 170 and baby measures at 9w 2d. Current due date calculation - Dec. 12, 2014.

Being a parent is the great thing that will ever happen to you. The best advice as a parent I've ever gotten (and passed along) is:

Don't ever say "I can't wait until my son/daughter does _________". You CAN wait and you will want to. Cherish every moment because things change so much. The way they say a certain word or the way they do a certain thing may not be that way for long.

We are having a boy! At first my wife and I were hoping girl, and were going to name her Annika (guess after who). We don't have a boy's name solidified just yet, as it's a difficult topic to talk through. Still, we are excited!

It can't be said enough, but Congratulations! There's nothing better in the world than having those little ones grab a hold of you finger while they snooze in your arms. Cherish the happy times and the tough times because even those are missed quickly. My daughter just turned 1 and my son is a month and a half, and it's amazing to realize how much I had already forgotten. Enjoy this time with your wife leading up to the birth as well. Fatherhood is the best thing you'll ever have the pleasure of doing and the little guy sounds like he's going to have some amazing parents.

Yip, my boy is 3 and my daughter is 6. Time really flies by, as clichéd as this may be. Be there as much as you can. By "there", I mean there in the mix of things. Change nappies,give baths, give bottles and get your hands dirty. You'll never regret doing these things.
