714 ap2 vs 14 tp mc irons

MK7Golf21

What do you guys think the differences in ball flight would be between these two. I've hit the 7 iron in 14 mc irons and 6 iron in the 714 ap2. I can never decide on a 7 iron so it's been hard for me to compare. I have noticed that I am more aggressive with my divots on my current rocketbladez tour compared to the ap2 for some reason, not sure it'll that would be the same with mc. The ap2 did seem pretty accurate compared to my rbz tour but turf interaction was different, def didn't feel like I could take a crater of turf with the ap2

The Ap2 714 have flighted their irons. So short irons carry longer and higher and long irons flight lower and longer. If you check www.titleist.com they have a whole read up on them. I have them and they are the smoothest and softest irons iv played and iv hit the taylormade tp ones in February and the 714s win !

Ap2 is nice but I like my rbz tours, I just need a 3 degree flatter head since having lessons. I've noticed the ap2 head looks more compact, slightly more offset and a little thicker topline, it's like a squatter fatter head in comparison. Also the transition from hosel into head is so nice on rbz tours compared to ap2.

I hit mc's on a flightscope compared to my rbz tour and mc launched slightly lower and spun a bit more, also feel was more harsh. I'm not liking the lower launch so I can't pull the trigger on them.

14 TM cb is an option, but it is slightly more GI than the rbz tour. Slightly more offset, sole etc.

Not going to matter much....ford or chevy take your pick....

ive had rbz tours, ap2 and 30 other different heads..currently mp54 and it just doesnt matter....put a good swing and you get a good result....my results are almost identical with any of em

my ballflight is even pretty much same.....its angles of your impact that have greatest effect on ballflight. ...next but significantly less is shafts effect, last and even less is head being that heads are in same category....

Much easier to manipulate ballflight thru impact position than by changing clubs

It's definitely a personal preference thing between the two. I think with the correct shaft you can't go wrong with either, but I found the AP2's to be a little more appealing for a few reasons: First, size and shape standing over them. Second, something about "speed slots" on half of the irons just turned me off. The MC's just seem like a combo set and I've personally never liked the idea of combo sets. Finally, the AP2's felt more consistent and my dispersion was definitely tighter with them...

Again, I wouldn't have a problem playing the MC's at all, but when I'm spending over $1k on new irons it comes down to the little things...the 714 AP2's are perfect in everything from performance to appearance, the MC's lacked in a few categories.

I went from ap2 to mc. Feel wise the mc were better to my ear. On my miss hits the mc were also more forgiving for me. Distance is about the same with the mc being a yard or two longer. Selling point was the cost if shafts on custom orders. I don't get along with dg and titleist is absurd in their pricing. Couple that withy the ap2 paint fill coming out after a sessions. For the $$$ that shouldn't happen. Grip over and I will say that it's more preference and cost between the two sets.

its kind of crazy that the 14 MC had backspin 1,000 more rpm's compared to rbz tour, did a couple tests and same result when going back and forth. 14 MC launch about 1.5 degree lower and spun 1,000 rpms more. Carry is about the same, and total distance is nearly the same. I was spinnng the rbz tour about 5,000rpms with 6 iron, mc I am spinning 6,000 rpms with 6 iron.

But I hit my 5-iron 225yds on the launch monitor and only 205 yds on the course...I'm "Tour-good" at Golfsmith...

You sure you don't have that backwards? I thought it was shorter irons were lower and longer and long irons were higher and longer? more of a trajectory control thing for the low irons?

Those MC numbers seem perfect to me, much closer to Tour averages too. I feel like my RBZ Tour mid-long irons don't spin enough.

Yea I was thinking it was looking better on the spin as well. I was concerned about it launching lower at first but if they both have the same carry, doesnt matter. Id like to get a feel for them off of turf and I also hate only hitting a 7 iron of a set to decide. I would much rather it be a 6 iron. I can hit any 7 iron pretty good, 6 iron you start to see some differences
