New to Push Carts

TBD203

Recommended Posts

My new clicgear should be here this week... I was feeling some back pain, and developed a pretty nice bruise on my hip from carrying a cart bag (seems obvious eh?) so I pulled the trigger on a push cart. Anything you guys suggest I start doing now that I'm pushing instead of carrying? Anything I need to attach or bring with me I couldn't before? I plan to use a scorecard now instead of my phone when I walk alone 9 or 18.

Make sure hand position height feels good. Unless you are in decent shape now, you will feel it in the middle of your back from pushing. It goes away just don't be alarmed if you feel a new area of soreness.

I bought a Tour Trek One-Click 2.0 last summer and wish I'd done it 15 years earlier. Mine came with umbrella attachment but you'll love that Clic. You'll notice a huge difference after you finish playing.

If you walk a lot, I'd highly recommend going with a good push cart.

I bought the cooler for mine, but I like to sneak in a six pack every now in then on those busy summer days. Comes in handy even for a sandwich or candybars also.

With the umbrella holder you can actually enjoy playing rounds in rain. It was a PITA carrying when it rained holding the umbrella, putting the bag down, opening the rain hood, taking out your club and possibly removing its head cover, putting the umbrella away and then reversing the steps after the shot. And it's no fun carrying a wet bag.

With the umbrella attached you can hang a dry towel and your glove from its stretchers, stay dry for everything else but the shot itself. Also the cup holder is another must. You can also get the wheel cover kit but I use one of those big Ikea bags to haul my ClicGear 3.0 You should check ClicGears accessory list to see what interests you. As for the contents of my bag, there really hasn't been any changes to it due to moving from carrying to pushing..

Umbrella holder and cup holder. If you plan on a 6 hour round you could get one of those seats.... but I've never used on of those. I carry more water/booze/snacks when I push than when I carry.

I agree with the guy that mentioned the handle height. Make sure it's comfortable. Hills can be a REAL pain. You thought it was bad humping a cart bag up a hill carrying? Just wait until you have to push it. :) It's definitely going to work some different muscles than you're used to.

They do actually make a cigar holder for clic gear so chances are he already had the umbrella holder and just uses it for his cigar

[/quote]Really. How good is that. Reading what guys have said on this site there are a lot of attachments for Clicgears. I myself have a BagBoy M330. Can take the third wheel off if want. Just good basic cart. Scorecard holder and that is it.

I don't use my Clicgear much as I would rather carry, but I found that going up steep hills it was easier to pull the cart up behind you like the old pull carts....just a suggestion.

I bought mine off a guy from my league who sustained an injury and had to give the game up. He had the umbrella holder which works perfectly for my cigar, I do not see the point in spending more to get the cigar holder.

I have a clicgear 3.5 and it comes with a small cip holder and umbrella holder. I think the larger cup holder and adjustable tilt umbrella holders are additional. So far i have not neede an adjustable umbrella holder but the stock cup holder can only hold a beer can or small watermbottle.

I have been a long time carrier and I still have a 14 way titleist bag for those par 3 courses or walking a short quick 9.
Having a cart bag and push cart really helps in adverse weather..
Rain
Extreme heat/sun
You can use an umbrella in rain or heat for some relief
Also you can carry more drinks and food to prevent being dehydrated during the round.

Biggest thing I had to get used to is not being able to take a direct route to next tee.. I could walk over the green carrying my bag but with the push cart you need to go around. It may sound silly but some greens are big and it's a PITA.. More planning where you leave your cart is required to unsure you don't do Excessive walking

Everyone else is right ... Clicgear offers a long list of neat accessories. Most are personal preference picks. However, the upgraded umbrella holder is nice to have. The cup holder that comes with the Clicgear 3.5+ is too small. Invest in the larger one. Although the net on the cart is fine for holding a laser, the laser holder is another nice accessory. I have the shoe brush, but it seems other people use it more than I. One accessory that I thought was silly was the steering knob (only bought it because I caught it on sale). Turns out that it actually does make it a little easier pushing and steering the cart. If you can't clean the wheels before putting it back in your car and you don't like a lot of dirt and grim building up in your truck, the wheel cover is worth the expense.

Wheel cover and the storage hook are both awesome!

The storage hook is worth every penny! Wheel cover is nice to keep your interior clean.

The shoe brush is decent too.

As for comments about the cup holder.. What are you guys drinking?? I can fit a large Gatorade in it no issues.

As for pushing the cart I made the switch from carrying to a pull cart then to a clicgear. Carrying I found my game hurting on he last 3 holes. Pull carts are good, but nothing compares to a clic gear.

Absolutely! Carrying or even riding in the rain is no fun, but when you have a decent sized umbrella with the Clicgear, it completely changes things. Get ready to not have sore, tired shoulders at the end of your round too!

I used the wheel cover for a season, but if you get wet grass on the wheels or the tires are wet when you put in the wheel cover, it stinks, literally. I guess it doesn't allow everything to dry out quick enough. What I did was buy a dust pan brush, and just give the tires a quick once around to get any dirt or grass off of them, then your car stays clean.
