how fitted clubs affect your swing

went and got fitted by a top notch fitter today and was surprised at the results. I started off hitting a mp-32 6 iron and loved the way it felt, my swing felt and looked great and the ball just shot off, my average 6 iron was like 192 odd something.

So then the fitter when back to look at my current irons and measured them and all and came back with this. My swingweight in my irons was D-7!! Apparently the grips that I had put on them in the fall made the swingweight skyrocket(Multicompound GP). So I hit my current 6 iron and the results were not as great. My swing was horrible, and the ball just shot up in the air. So then he told me that the 32 was 1 inch long and mine were 1/2 inch and the extra 1/2 inch made my swing looks so much better and I didnt dip or sway as much on my backswing. Also I has s300 shafts in and he called them "noodles". The combination of the shafts and heavy weight gave me lots of inconsitency which was very noticeable. After all was said and done, went with +3/4" and D-4 swingweight with the x100 in the mp-67.

Now so we moved onto the woods. Current set up inclued Driver, 3, and 5 wood. We talked and I wanted a 2 iron or 5 wood but couldnt decide. he went back and got the 585H, hit that at 3/4" long and once again, the right club length drastically improved my swing. Went with the club.

My conclusion, a proper fitting can not only improve your scores and game but your swing. ive been trying for the past year to get rid of this dip move on my backswing and it all came down to short clubs. I dont know what it was but on video, 1/2" and 3/4" was a complete difference. Id recommend that everyone get properly fit and make sure its someone who knows their stuff. I was there for 2.5 hours and it was worth every second.

Yeah, this is why I get a kick out of the people who spew the "Indian not the Arrow" garbage. If you have a sound swing the arrow makes all the difference in the world! People frequently try and compensate for poorly fitted equipment. This can ruin your swing and cause a great deal of inconsistency. Everyone should be fitted properly. It's just a shame there are so few good club fitters out there.

It is. One thing that this guy was big on was not putting "bandaids" on your clubs. He fit me to ideal standards and not to the specs that would make me hit the ball good. So basically the specs he gave me are going to force me to put a better swing on the ball and get better.
