all juniors, most arrogant players alive, they think they can beat the pants off of everyone, absolute joke, im 24 now and im 10 times better than i was when i was 14, 16, or 18, have some respect for people who have played longer, especially older guys who you think you can beat the pants off of, stop trying to prove how good you are to everybody, i see older guys who dont care about having this tiger woods esque swing, and dont hold the finnish for 10 seconds, and guess what their scores are lower than yours, juniors need to play the game like everyone else, stop thinking ur better than everyone else, and have some respect, now lets here all the replies of how you could probably woop my ***, what a joke

Come on man, you can't paint with such a broad brush about all juniors. There are some that fit your description, but most are good, respectful kids. You come across in this post as much more arrogant about your current game than most juniors. For what it is worth, a good junior player can beat the vast majority of everyone who plays this game. And no I am not a junior, I am older than you.

i have two

once (actually happened a number of times) i was playing with a kid on my team and he is really long but also a long way left and right. He played and he seemed to always be all over and we would add up his score to like a triple and all of the sudden he'd be like i got birdie, wtf. So long story short this guy ended up having himself down for 16 shots less than what we actually got on the nine holes. The worst part was he said he had a 38 not 54 and he had the nerve to say i cheated and wanted him to hace a worse score so i could beat him even though i shot 8 (garbage for my home course) over, when we had him recreate the score on paper he did not add one penalty stroke he had for all the out of bounds he it and not one bunker shot even though one hole he was in a bunker for 4 shots with coaches watching. He also said he 1 putted all the greens. THe kid got suspended from the team for the rest of the year. It always seemed strange that he had an average of 5 over even though when ever he played with the coaches or me he had at least 18 over, o yeah he had a 10.3 putt average for the year :partytime2: I HATE CHEATERS EVEN MY OWN TEAMMATES

The other was this kid that i had to play with 3 times during the year. He goes to a school where they can only get 5 people on a team and only one has played before the year began. But this kid was garbage, he wiffed at least 3 per hole, his longest shot would go 60 yards, He only hit a 5 iron. He would have done better slicing his clubs and going for it instead of playing conservative and still missing it badly. All three times he shot double par, we had to play double par pickup with them because they were so bad we'd never finish. THe worst part was that he never even putted once on all of the 36 (2 nines and one 18) holes we played he only made it with in 100 yards of a hole 3 times. But my favorite part besides him saying he normally gets pars and it was just a bad day was the time he couldnt find his ball and all of the sudden he is playing one from the wrong side of the fairway, that is from where his ball actually was. Turns out he found a ball that said, "muligan ball, play this ball from where u find it with no penalty" i was about to die when i found this out, and he tried to say it was ok because the course superentendant puts a few out every day and it is in the rules.;)

I probably have more of these stories than I'd like to think about...

The all time loser is this guy who was somewhere between 15 and 18 who frequented some of the public courses I play. I had seen him around always with headphones on very unfriendly.

One day as luck would have it me and my buddy got paired with him.... it was one of those days where we had to sit around and wait to get out so we had a couple of beers in us by the time we teed off. Both of us are pretty big boys too (just to set the scene we're both puddy cats).

He showed up at the first tee and gave a speech, something to the effect of "Don't talk to me once we tee off, don't walk ahead of me and stay behind me when I putt and everything will be just fine" Then He puts on his headset (not earbuds but over the ear head phones) My buddy and I are looking at each other like we can't believe what we just heard...

This kid then jumps the tee takes a few practice swings and proceeds to whack one OB. Me and my buddy were literally Rolling on the ground laughing, we had tears in our eyes... He picked up his bag and headed straight to the parking lot.... It took 5 minutes for us to get it together enough to tee off

Alright I apologize, it was much too broad and much too harsh, i have a tendency to say things like this when ive had too much sugar, which im sure was the case here, its not juniors that grind my gears, its people who think that they are better than everyone else, and those people come in all shapes, sizes, AND AGES. Hopefully you guys can forgive me.

I am a junior, and i dont think i am better than everyone...but i do practice real hard every single day range pitching putting and whatnot and some people probly think that i think i am the greatest but that is not it at all its just that i dont want to talk you when im on the end of the range and there are 30 other spots to go to and you come right behind be start hacking it up thats why im at the end of the range to get away from everyone...just saying this because i think thats why some people get the wrong perception of juniors.

TRUE STORY

My Senior year, i played with this kid who was a complete hack.

After the third hole, he was about 20 over and completely lost it. He started to act like he was Rambo, tied his towel around his head and was jumping in bunkers and acting like he was shooting squirels. He actually caught one by the tail and flung it about 20 feet.

I flagged my coach over and told him to get the joker out of here. :D

Also

The next week at the County Tourney, i played with a kid who made a Hole-in-One on #2 and then holed his second shot for an eagle on #3. He went on to finish with a sizzling 116!!!!!!

i think all of us that played on a high school team, or in frequent junior tournaments played with other juniors that were just terrible. Im not surprised at any of the extremely high scores you all are talking about. but ive got a couple of stories.

-here in sacramento area, we have this jr tour formerly called SAY golf. one tournament in particular was the DUDE, or Dont Use Drugs Ever tourney. i get paired with this total hick from up in the woods half way to tahoe. he's never played in a tourney in his life and has only played for about a year. his score wasn't too bad 90 somethin for a tough course but get this. one hole in he pulls a beer out of his bag and chugs it only when i was looking. he then proceeds to pull out a carton of cigs and has a smoke. we were 12 at the time... 12 years old. i was flabbergasted, but thought it was the funniest thing at the time. here were are at the dont use drugs ever tourney and this 12 year old pulls out a beer and some cigs without even blinking.

-another tourney i was paired with this very average golfer, again shot high 90's or somethin. anyway this other kid is havin a terrible day, the back 9 he goes like bogey, trip, dbl, par, dbl and then proceeds to dunk it on this par 3 - hole in one out of the middle of nowhere. it was great, but just came from nowhere.

-freshman year in high school im in this tourney. this kid that is known for doin a lot of showin off and just acting like he's better than everyone gets paired with me. he's got the nike hat and the red shirt with brand new clubs, etc. steps up, tops it. 3rd bounce it hits the cart path edge, bounces back at us to the left and goes on the street , OB. i was smiling from ear to ear. tees up another, skies it straight up, hits a tree about 20 yards in front of us and drops. he withdrew after about 4 holes. hah, what a P***Y.

Last year, I was home in North Augusta and I had just bought my baby brother a set of Acuities, so he could join me on the course. Anyway, we played a scramble, ie, he hit one, I hit one, he picks his ball up and drops it next to mine, and hits again. Well, for about a week of doing this my brother tells me of his best friend who was on the HS golf team that wants to play with us. I asked my brother if he was any good. He said he guessed, he was on the golf team. I said sure why not, but you play scramble with him, loser pays for dinner. He said okay.

Went to pick the kid up, and he comes trotting out with the golf set that time forgot. I'm thinking, okay, the kid's been using his grandfather's set of blades, he must be good.

Anyway, we get to the course, I tee it up, krank one out there in the middle of the fairway. My brother tees one up, and actually hits the fairway. This kid walks up with this driver with a wooden head and twine that is unwinding and actually tees up with a range ball that's so old it's brown. I swear, it was like something out of an Adam Sandler movie. He whiffs it about 5 times, and on the 6th time he skulls a worm burner that doesn't even reach the fairway. My baby brother, who was only 20 years old and it was only his 3rd time ever on a course was doing better than this kid.

Anyway, they did okay the 18 holes. They mostly played off of my brother's ball, but it's cool. The kid was very nice, and only through one fit. It was on the number 4 par 4, and made the comment if he had clubs as nice as mine he'd be doing a lot better. I smiled walked over to his ball, dropped on of mine I had in my pocket, took out his 3 iron blade with the slickest, most warn out grip I have ever seen, and laid one up next to the green from his spot. I handed the club back to him and said, "Man, those are mighty fine clubs. Classic blades, can't get much better than that. I wish they still made them like that. Titliest too. You should be proud to own this bag."

I think the only shot they used of this kid's was on the par 4 11th. I'm at my ball waiting for them to make their swings when I hear watch this, no crap, I turn around this kid does a Happy Gilmore with a 5 iron at 150 yards, clears the green. Of course he tried it again once or twice more, just digging up the rough, but oh well.

Most of the round all he did was tell me how good I was, and I should be a pro. Still shot 7 over, but it's cool. I let him know that the big guys on the Tour are way better than me, they can actually putt.

Oh yah, they bought me Mexican for dinner. Best Mexican food I ever had. They even invited his older sister, who was a bit weird, but nice to look at. I think she was 2 years younger than me. Not real sure.

Give these folks a break, I would hate to have a bad day with some of you all in my group. Juniors are juniors, thus they are young and all that comes along with bring young. Give them a break. Why not take the time to teach them etiquette without coming across as a a-hole. I played with a fifty something guy in a scat game on Sunday who announced he was joining us on eight. After he he had lost three balls after six holes he decided that I was moving as he was preparing for a shot and proceeded to yell out things that would make a hip-hop artist blush. I apologized to him for "moving" during his shot preparation and he refused to speak to me. I was the new guy and though my round was not as bad as his, it was nothing to write home about so I left as I could tell the rest of the group decided to focus their frustration on me as well. I hung back and joined the group behind them and had a horrible round. I need to work on mental toughness. So, I guess I could start a thread on how horrible it is to play with fifty something a-holes who need a new guy around to blame their bad shots on. Leave the kids alone and take the opportunity to teach them from their mistakes.

Jeez I thought my section was bad.  Juniors during sectionals would shoot at most like 100-115.  I mean 150+ has to be rough.  My uncle is terrible, like seriously terrible and he shoots about 120's on tough courses.

Probably the worst story for me was playing in sectionals this year as a senior.  I played with two people I've played with during the season, so I had a good pairing.  Me and another kid we're about even in talent, I was probably a stroke or two better but the other kid was ok, not a scrub but ok.  We would give each other like one foot putts because it was just stupid wasting time.  This kid started taking 6 foot gimmies like it was ok.  Also, he would shave off two or more strokes a hole.  He should of shot probably high 90's where the other kid and I shot 74-75.  I figured it would come back to haunt him and it did at States.  He shot like 100+.  The conditions were pretty tough(30mph wind, 45 degrees and raining) on a 7000yd course.  The other kid shot 97 and I shot 85 missing the cut by one which sucked.  I'm just glad the kid just got annihilated during states.

WOW! Is all I can say, I have played with some pretty terrible juniors but nothing to your guys's experiences. The worst one I have played with was from seaside,OR. We were playing at Salishan Golf Links and Resort. He topped his driver into a hazard right off the tee box 5 times. Ended up making an 18 on a 385 yd par 4. I guess he was a down to earth kid, so it wasn't all that bad.

This fourm is about a-holes, not people with dissabilities

i have had some bad experiances with jerkoffs in my group, and sometimes (but rarely) they are like the best player in the state

but the worst feeling is when some half retarded looking kid who seems like he couldn't tie his own shoes shoots 68 and beats you by like 7 shots then walks off the course looking like someone pissed in his cherios

holeheartedly agree. we have a couple kids like that playing jr. golf in this area.... you know the kids who couldn't make friends cause they are so ugly so they  take up golf.

i was playing as 1 spot on my school team and for some reason i got paired with the 6 player on the other team. he was awful, every shot he hit was a top from off the tee, and every fairway shot he would hit would be a chunk. he had about 4, 4-putts on 9 holes. the funny part was that after every shot that he actually made contact with, he would say, "that was a peach", or "peachy". he shot around mid 70's for 9 holes.

a couple of years ago i played in a tourney at this really easy course and although i didn't play with him, i heard some kid shot a 173 for 18 holes, i was laughing so hard. then like a week later i played with a kid that shot 154 and i had to keep his card, and the other kid in my group shot 126, and somehow i shot an 80 with all of that hacking goin on haha. Lets just say i was slightly stunned after those two tourneys.

I played with a kid who i kept his card who cheated to about a 126. when i shot a 76. off the first tee he hit 5 ob right and made a 16 on the hole. it got to the point that i put down whatever he told me, i didn't really even count.

another story i heard was at regionals, this really stupid kid on my team was keeping another kids score and put  his front 9 total on hole 9 so he took a 47 for hole number 9 and ended shooting a 138

few years back playin in a high school tournement one of my teammate/ friends teed up on the first hole, surrounded by everyone and somehow managed to hit a shot that went straight through his legs and went directly into the pond behind him. i still have no idea how one takes a normal stance and does that... i was on the ground laughing and luckily for him he didnt have aspirations of being on the tour so he burst out laughing.

I played Royal Lytham for the first time last summer - greens on top of dunes, 30mph wind, course dried out, deepest pot bunkers I've ever seen, elephant grass anywhere off line on the front nine.

Anyway, I'm a decent 7 handicapper, but this is the first round I can recall where I simply couldn't post a score - guess 95 if you give me a couple of 10s.

Playing behind me were 3 junior members, all the gear, loud trousers, very polite - but all played worse than me, I saw several tops, ob.s etc

Heard them adding up their scores afterwards - low and behold, 76, 78, 79!

From the above posts, college golf in the US sounds kind of similar to the UK - how do you put up with it? Cheats really put me off my game.
