Golf on a Budget....How much did you pay for your Driver ?

I own 3 2 Drivers at the moment which cost me the following, all UK Sterling

 

Cleveland DST .. Brought in March 2012 for £69.99

 

Titleist 983k .. Brought in Oct 2013 for £10.00

 

Callaway RAZR X Black ..Brought in May 2014 £39.99

 

ADAMS FAST 12 Grafalloy Speedcoat £35.00

You can see what is in my bag in my sig and between EBAY, Pawn shops and garage sales i paid less then 350 total for all my clubs. the cameron putter was found at a estate sale where someone passed away and whoever had the sale didnt know what they had, i got it for 5 BUX!!!!

My opinion of course, but any model of the TEE drivers are hard to beat. Anything except the most current versions can be had on eBay for $150 or less. Sometimes under $100. Hard to beat their quality and distance.

not sure, but I've had a hard time selling a true bomber for just over $100 lately......the ho in me just wants to try something else (it can be cheap or expensive)

Those drivers, both 290 and 310 are great bang for the buck IMO.

Currently playing an FT-3 tour bought 2 seasons ago in mint condition...65.00 to the front door.

I sold my buddy my 290 w/ Miyazaki Blue 72x for $100 just a couple of weeks ago. I still think I'll regret that in the days to come.

I have 7 drivers at the moment (a few will be sold soon) and none cost more than $100. In fact, most cost $50-60 which was usually offset by trading or selling some other club.

For me, golf is more enjoyable the cheaper it is. I could afford to pay more, but with two small kids, I'd rather spend the money elsewhere.

Taylormade r11s used at Golfsmith...$90

Worst thing about it is it has TM written on it. Great driver though. Will be using it for the forseeable future.

But for the others, I like Taylormade, and knowing their product cycle made a good habit of waiting until the new stuff came out to get the older stuff. R1, I got lucky and had stuff to trade and got 50% more and a friendly discount so I was actually paid $50 in golfsmith credit to pick up an R1.

Got an RBZ Tour for very little as well, TP version with an HD 6, for about $100.

Before that was a Burner Superfast TP and the Superfast, both with Diamana Blue Board, for under $125, thanks to ebay.

Just be patient and you can score a great driver for under $150...

If you are not hung up on having the latest and greatest, you can easily pick up a "last years model" Callaway or Taylormade used, and in "like new"' condition for easily under $150. Not saying you can't do that with other OEM like Ping or Titleist, but due to their longer product cycles, to stay in that price range you may be looking at something 5yrs old. Also don't write off some of the "sleepers" out there, like Cobra, Cleveland, Tour Edge and Adams. Could find a great bomber out there, with real, high end shaft for a song just because they are not one of the "Big Four"

100$= Titleist 910 D2 with Aldila VS Proto shaft. Last Saturday my average drive was 317. Longest was 347 (wind at my back). Shortest was right 288 straight into the wind. I believe only hit about 8 drives total that day. Was absolutely crushing the ball though!

Got a rapture v2 from Golfsmith on sale for 99 dollars and put a vs proto in it. I have never hit a driver better in my life and it cost me less than 150 bucks.

I posted on it before (not currently in the bag, but one of my clubs that isn't for sale)
Found a broken shaft stuck in the ground on our 18th tee box with the head still attached..
I sit on the board for the course (tournament director) & VERY close friends with the asst. super & other greens crew....
So I try to pick up all I can on the course..
Was actually going to pick it up & throw it in the trash can...
Ended up being a V1 Rapture 10.5*
So threw it in the bag & forgot about it for a few years..
Over the winter I put a TFC 169 "tour" shaft in it.. ($20 shipped) & pulled a GPMC off another unused club...
So for about $30 (grip & epoxy) This club flat out gets on it...
No, it's not in the bag, for the ho in me won't let me stick with it...
But it is one of the few of my clubs that is NOT FOR SALE!!!!

If your looking for cheap quality drivers I don't think you could beat a Cleveland, specifically the classic w/ miyazaki shaft or an Adams. Last weeks TM drivers can be had cheap as well.
