Ping Digital Loft Service

Right now I am playing a Ping G25 driver, love it and have had it for almost 2 years. It is a 10.5 and when I bought it I was not as good a driver as I am now. So my ball flight is starting to get a little high with the driver ... Would like it to launch a little lower. I have set it at the 10 degree setting, which helped a little...even bought some low launching shafts, with little difference other than my spin is probably not very high. But I was wondering, rather than forking out 300 bucks for a 9.5, is it possible to send to Ping and get my driver set to a 9.5 or is that not even possible? Has anybody ask Ping to digitally loft their driver before? Thanks.

When they digitally loft your driver they are digitally measuring it. They don't adjust it. For example... yours may be a 10.5 but Ping digitally measures the loft at 9.9 or 11.2

If you ordered one digitally lofted at 9.5 they just measure a bunch until they find one that measures 9.5 or as close to it as they have.

as posted, not an after the fact thing.

They'll just pick a head that measures as close as possible to your desired loft. e.g. you want a 10.0, the driver might be stamped 8.5, 9.5 or 10.5....but actually measure 10.0.

I'd suggest getting on a launch monitor to really see if in fact you are launching too high and what the associated spin is. The eyes can be VERY deceiving unless you do fit clubs for a living and have literally see tens of thousands of balls and their associated launch data.

Ohhhh I was confused, I thought digitally lofting is a way they can adjust the head loft.

When on a monitor I am launching my G25 around 16 degrees. I still get decent distance, but not enough roll out because it is so high.

Good to know. I guess only way to know is to get fitted for a new driver.

16* launch might not be too high, suppose it depends on ball speed and spin.

I'm launching around 16* w/ 2200-2300 rpm of spin....it "looks" high to my eye, but the results show it's just crushed...with a decent descending angle...(it carries and rolls)

I couldn't get my g25 12* under 18-20* launch and 4000 rpm despite 6 different shafts. Thinking it might have been up around 14-15* actual loft.

I was told by a Ping Engineer drivers run 1.5 +/-0.75 degrees higher than the stamped loft. To dial in what loft you need, you need to determine what your 10.5 stamped head actually is.
