Definitely happy with how it turned out!

 

Basically, I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how putters are re-finished, and then I just adapted the process to work with tools that I have, and materials I could buy from the hardware store.

 

I used sandpaper, a power sander, automotive paint, and an automotive clear-coat sealant.

 

Getting all the bag chatter smoothed out was definitely the toughest part.

I purchased these a few months ago, but just got them built up and played them this morning.  I don't know much about Orlimar, and even less about these particular forged and milled irons.  They didn't feel as soft as say my Mizunos or raw MacGregors, but that might been because it was 37 degrees this morning when I tee'd off. 

 

Only odd thing about the previous build was they had over 15 grams of epoxy across all the heads.  My drill shaving pile of epoxy shavings was enormous.  The hosel depth was also a full 1.75", which was crazy.

At first glance they remind me of those TM Rac irons where there were ones made by Miura and the later coin forged ones

Had the best putting round of the year last time out so naturally picked up 2 new additions. 
 

PING WRX Redwood Piper and a Scotty Cameron (Prototype?) Hand-stamped Big Sur. Debating on doing some armlocking with this. The 500g headweight and upright lie angle are perfect for it. Also who doesn’t love a hotdog.

It's painted then? The face looks like it was. Nike logo on the face, heal-side looks kinda bad?

Yeah, painted with a highly durable automotive paint, and then a clear coat of automotive sealant.

 

There’s definitely some imperfections, but overall I’m happy with how it turned out for sure. Especially since the professionals wouldn’t finish it in Black, and I really didn’t want to overpay for a Stainless Steel finish.

My favourite set of irons is my current gamers. Ping ISI BeNi. They are money in a retro kinda way. No goo. No fillers. 47 pw. Old school Karsten. Today I took a 15 year leap from the year 1999 to 2014 and brought home G25 4-U. So modern of me. A 32 degree 7i? Craziness. They need some fitting tweaks for me but that’s easy enough. I’ve liked CFS stiff Ping shafts in the past so happy to see that they were speced on this set. 

They’ll never win a beauty contest, but early SIM tests today prove to me that these are like living on easy street. And although they are ultra forgiving, I was pretty taken with how they felt. Every bit as great as BeNi. No Mizzy MP14 pure but for a Ping cast club, they felt and sounded amazing. Bonus points. 
 

I didn’t have the heart to pull all the BeNi’s from the bag so the S and L stayed….. for this pic anyways. Shhhhh 😉

Does the paint come in a spray can and where did you get it? I would like to repaint few drivers that have scratches on the crown but not sure what to use.

I think the paint you would need to get would depend on the finish of the specific clubs you want to paint.

 

I wouldn’t necessarily risk painting Drivers, but maybe one of the small touch-up paints in a jar could be used for small marks.

Any plans to restore them or gonna keep them as is? I follow a page on instagram I think it's flanigan bilt golf and I'm always shocked at what they can restore iron wise, not an ad just a thought haha

I've regripped a few of them just to toy with on the range. It's fun to take out the persimmon wood or one of these irons during our Sunday game and see the guys try to hit them. Haven't thought about restoration. Also inherited a couple Scotty Camerons.
