I've had a few weeks and a few rounds with the New Level 480-TC and SPN forged wedges -- loving them so far. Both are forged and feel very buttery. The wedges spin a bunch too, which is also nice .

The 210-225 carry distance has been a struggle for me to get right. I’ve been down many roads to try to find the solution from all the latest offerings. Fairway woods and I distrust each other and the newer hybrid offerings never listened. You name it, I’ve tried it. The 5w, 7w / 3H, 4H spots in my bag have been a revolving door. 
Popped into the local Golf Trader shop last week and stumbled on this rowdy duo at $100 for the pair. Took them into the SIM just out of curiosity. I never tried RocketBLZ back in the day. Despite their age, they looked virtually unhit. Top white crowns etc are mint.

Me Likey. A lot. These things are still legit after all these years. Shorter shafts than fairway woods yet abit longer than hybrids. Sits square. Abit bigger of a head than a Hy. They followed me home. I’m crushing on 10 year old hybrids.

Have never looked at those in detail before (they certainly aren't just hanging out in big box stores).

 

Hard to tell from the picture, but the third pic is fascinating. are those actually diagonal micro-grooves within the grooves?

No, I think that's just an image artifact caused by my quickie iPhone pictures. The grooves are nice but there is no crazy inner-groove milling that I can see w/ the naked eye.

Cobra F7 4-5wd. Tour issue head. Same shape and size of the F6 Baffler. 18.5° loft, 2° open

 

OG Kai'li 80 stiff. Tipped .75" Plays 42.375" eog. Just shy of D5

Found a cheap putting matt at Walmart, it works well enough for what I need. I actually have a better one but it's too big for the space I have and doesn't have any markings on it. This one is narrower, doesn't need power and the ball return actually works great.

I recommend putting over this 48 in. metal ruler on the mat.  great putting aid.

Turned out that I didn't have to wait until 3/10 as I got a last-minute invite to play this past Sunday.   Went 3/4 fairways (4/4 in a practical sense, just not technically) on the front-9 with the Denali, but I didn't like the overall feel ("dead") and the launch was noticeably lower than typical for me.  The soggy fairways with no roll didn't exactly help with a positive assessment.  I swapped out the Denali for a GD HD 7X at the turn which felt and launched better - 4/5 fairways on the back-9.  I hadn't actually tried the HD before as I had been using an IZ 7S in my Ping G425 LST.  I may give the Denali another shot during the next recreational outing, but the 3/10 round is a tournament, so I'm going to leave the HD in there for that.

Decided to go back to a Black bag for this season, and this Nike Air Sport 2.0 just keeps pulling me back in!

 

This one was tough to find though…not sure if Nike is pulling out of Golf bag manufacturing, or if there’ll just be a new version of it coming out this year.

Slightly oddball collection of new purchases here.  I had wanted to try the outgoing Mizuno 221, and I noticed places selling the 7-iron demo heads cheapish.  Ended up being the only bidder on an ebay auction that was written slightly odd, in that it said it was for a 221 demo head and "bonuses."  Photos showed a variety of heads.  Turns out for $45 I bought seven brand new demo heads.  Two each of 225, 223, and 221 heads, and a JPX921 Tour.  Just the heads, so I needed to make my own shaft adapters, which gave me a chance to adjust lofts a bit for a middle-iron short set I guess? 

 

Slightly offset adapters for a 225 at 27 degrees, 223 at stock 32 degrees, and 221 at 37 degrees.  So sorta 5 iron, 6.5 iron, almost 8 iron lofts.  I built this first size using equal length shafts, as the head weights were nearly identical to the 0.1g across all three heads.  

 

I play a 6-hole Par 3 course daily (not a pitch a putt, real Par 3 type distances) so these lofts work great if I juggle what tee boxes I hit from.

I also started searching for other oddball demo heads, and used them as a basis to build short sets around other single irons.  This was a set of Callaways using a single CB21 6-iron head and a 7-iron demo, then two MB18 irons. Nice little 6, 7, 8, and 9 combo, with the lofts spread out a bit from 28, 33, 38, 43*.

 

Other heads have landed, including a pack of three new P760 demo heads that were $15. I might try to find a P770 5-iron and P750 9 iron, and make some sort of whacky combo set of P750, P760, P760, P770 four club set.  

 

And I started gathering some cheap heads for a MP20 mixed set, with MMC 6 and 7 iron, and a MB 7 iron.  I can build these up to be something like a 26, 31, and 36, just need a MP20 9-iron to finish them off.
