Callaway Big Bertha Alpha w/ Shaft upgrades?

The CallaWrx2 thread had me buzzing with anticipation for the release of the BBA at the start of the year. When I eventually got the chance to try it I was really disappointed. That was until last week when I snagged one with a couple of shaft upgrades. For me the stock Fubuki ZT tour felt too light. I now have a grafalloy white blue 75 stiff and a tour AD di60 in x... Both shafts work superb in the head, the grafalloy white blue launches higher and carries a little further but the AD DI is a nice flat flight which gets plenty of roll out. Im going to get on a LM to find which shaft produces the best numbers for me. I love the adjustability of the head. I have it set to neutral +1 degree with 7g in the toe and 3g in the heel.

Has anybody else revisited the BBA with sucsess after a disappointing first try...what changed for you, shaft upgrade, head set up?

I would love to try the 9* with a shaft upgrade, especially in the high 60s to low 70s weight - the ZT was nice, but at 62g is really light for my sometimes quick transition.

I also didn't get along with the stock shaft on the alpha, I could not get any consistency with it....would like to hear more about others successes with other shafts.

I'm currently using the BBA with an OBAN Devotion 06 04 Shaft. This setup has (so far) been a nice change. Gained extra yards and the dispersion is very good as well. I think getting the right combo is key to any Driver setup. Using a LM will provide you the necessary data to finalize your decision.

Still gaming the Razr fit myself. I have a diamana ahina 60x playing 44 inches with the face set open. The alpha has a nice look and sound but I would have to plug my current shaft in one to see if it was that much better.

I've tried several shafts with both the 9° and 10.5° models (yes I bought both). [u]For my swing[/u], I found that an Aldila Tour Blue 65TX tipped 1/2" fit my swing the best and gave me the best combination of accuracy and distance. That was followed by an Aldila Voodoo SVS6 tipped 1" that has a similar bend profile as the Tour Blue. The stock Fubuki ZT was third best after I cut it down to 44-3/4" And overall the 9° head set to +1/N, center weight up, and 1g on the toe and 3g on the heel worked better for me than the 10.5° on any configuration. I have sold the 10.5°. I'm happy with the Tour Blue and the only way I would change is to get on a launch monitor with a full Callaway fitters cart filled with many shafts to see if there is a better shaft for me.
