Have much history with the constant from Shimada? they seem to be lighter but higher launching. Just curious if they were slightly higher or moon ball launch.
higher a bit than lite definitely. Moon ball or not depends on the swinger. No balloon flight so far.

What are your thoughts on Shimada Pro? Tried the Modus3 120 in place of C-taper, the ball just keep dropping down like a dead bird. And if I released the club properly it hooks quite a bit.
Pro is a parallel tip version of Tour. I'm almost exclusively using tour version as they are constant weight 3-P.

That's the problem with modus as they are stiffer tip which means require more load to make shaft perform. Shimada tour is a much smoother and easier to load and yet not soft on flex. I usually see a quicker heavier load swinger do ok with modus...but yet Shimada tour hard to beat the feel. Lots of DG lover end up with Shimada tour if they are looking for less spins, lighter, flatter ball flight and yet the feel is not to far of from DG.

I see you're a bit of a Fourteen fan boy. Interesting.
No brainer on that if you know exactly whats good and what is not so good for what type of swing and skill level and do this for a living. They just have to keep up with my critical eyes and knowledge of the club performance and design!

And Yet as I always said no equipments are bad, You just have to know how to fit and build them for.

Please understand I meant that as no disrespect. I live in SoCal, and am told they are common down here yet I have yet to see a set. Their products do intrigue me. Hence why your OP "interests" me do to have done further research.
Not yet So far! I've been planning but hard when you still have lots of stuff to take care of here. I would definitely do it if you can collect enough guys looking for fittings. ;)
It depends here, Flex only you could fell to softstep X flex, but feel wise you might be able to handle full X. C taper totally different shaft character. I'm definitely recommend you to get fitted before making decision.

Great list.

Is there a reason why jdm woods did not make to your list?

And is there a reason why the coveted Miura did not make to your irons list?
Not a common thing to see and test and hard to get those company to get on board to provides demo or fitting heads..,plus they are not concentrated in wood sales. I carry pretty much almost any JDM, but yet there are so much you can handle and I also have to sort it out by popularity too...unless their performance are extra ordinary. I always let people hit and test within what they are looking for including miuras and I do explain head design in relationship to their swing (positives and negatives). I gave options and I let them decide the final call, so far those are what they picked on my list. So those made it on the list are not base on my interest ONLY.

No worries! BTW, Did you check their dealers list ?

Anyway, JDM in the US are not going full blast. They usually know what they have to fight on a hard nasty market. It's business to them to survive. Fourteen main gig is their wedges and lately their iron too. Their club designer has one of the best brain IMO, in addition to their seriousness trying to make a business in the US. That's a huge credit for JDM IMO. Look at Mizuno (which consider US brand already), They know that they want to fight in FORGED IRON and they've done very well in that corner.

Bottom line, show me where the money is and we'll show what we got and what we can get. Standard business practice if they want to survive.

My 2 cents!

What are your thoughts on the Nippon 1150 (where it be ranked re: kick spin)? I thought they were quite smooth and stable, specs were right on, and easy to build with as a result. Any of the Nippon wedge specific shafts that would match up well w/ the 1150's? thx
Lots of factors to consider before i can answer your question/s. You might want to get fitted, then It would more realistic to answer your questions without wasting each others time. Again, to me all shafts are good if you got fitted properly for it.

Joe, is it just me or does the W series seem less popular on tour than the Ahina was?
I don't think so, i think it's because of head design lately more towards LOW CG/ LOW SPINS.

I've fitted and seen a bunch of my friends and customers gained crazy distance with BBA and W series combo and yet has a better dispersion too.

In fact, I played with a one friend a lot that I almost want to said I made a mistake on that one....cuz he freaking out drove me easily 20 yards now. :(

So his set up before was way off. FYI, He played with G25 stock shaft S flex and his swing is at 115mph. I fitted him with 70W X flex at 45inch D3sw.

For All!

Most popular (close to 60%)of BBA set up is core up despite core down is 200-400mph lower spins, this set up includes tour pro. It shows not to many of them really need low spins and catching more solid is more important than lower spins.

FYI, I've seen to many of the low/forward CG driver set up on tour was tweaked with 2gr weight which means, they don't want/like it when its too low on the spins. They told me its inconsistent ball flight due to hitting too low on the face when the weight is too heavy on the low side.

Just something to share!

Joe,

In the fw shafts you listed 757 and vc.3 tour specs. What's the difference between the two?

Also I don't see the epon sus316s listed. Those are pretty sweet!
Totally different specs and the NEW 757 are no near the same specs at the OLD 757, The new one is not even counter balance like the old one. I dunno they even wanna ride the fame of the old 757 when the specs not even close. Just saying!
