Need help picking a driver Cleveland Classic vs Nike Covert

I am thinking of getting a new/used driver. The two that have peaked my interests are the Cleveland Classic and the Nike Covert. They are both relatively cheap. Just wondering what your guys opinion are on these two drivers.

I like both drivers but prefer the classic 290 because of it's look and sound. Got pretty similar performance with both but the classic just looked better at address

I've hit both and liked the Covert better. It's also adjustable.

I went into Golf Galaxy a week or so ago to buy an R1... hit it and about everything else (except the Covert)... came home with a Classic XL (Miyazaki B. Asha 5) and she serves me well.

Cleveland.

Everyone I've known that has tried the Nike driver has traded it in within WEEKS. Plus a red club is lame.

Is there a third option? Of the 2, even though I have never hit the Cleveland, I would still say that over the Nike. Buddy of mine switched to the Covert & hates it. He is no ho though, so he keeps trying to convince himself that he'll get used to it. I've hit it twice myself & I agree...

I would opt for the Classic Custom.

I purchased one with the JDL 6X shaft and it reminds me a lot of my Bridgestone J33.

It's a fairway finding machine.

I have both.

Covert is more forgiving and it's adjustable. Classic XL is longer, louder and nice looking at address.

Cleveland with kusula black was about as low spinning as I've ever hit if that helps. Very straight and yes loft up

I assume that we are talking the Covert Performance not the Tour, if that is the case the Covert Performance from last year is as forgiving a driver as I've ever hit. Too easy for me to go straight over and over. The Cleveland Classic on the other hand is much longer, its deep face makes it a lower spinning club. It's not as forgiving but it is still not too bad in that department. These clubs in my opinion are VERY different beasts and you could be happy with either.

To the one that said that his friend bought a Covert and hates it or that they return them within weeks I'm not sure I'm buying that story. I've owned a lot of equipment and tested a lot of equipment. The Covert 2.0 tour is not going anywhere. This club is the best of all worlds. It is as consistent a distance performer as the 913 D3 with the same looks (only red crown instead of black) but more forgiving by far. I know some people have not gotten along with it, but I am hitting this better than any driver out there. Do not blindly listen to people on here, test them yourself and see which you like better.

I have a Cleveland Classic XL Custom and it was a game changer for me. It has a great look at address and is pretty accurate. It's not super long, but overall it is probably the best all-around driver that I have hit.

Never have tried the Nike, but if they are both cheap, why not get them both and try them out and then sell one. The Cleveland has some pretty good shaft choices, not sure about the Nike but that was a very nice surprise.

Thanks for all the help guys. I went with the Covert got it for 80 dollars so if it doesnt work out it wont be a huge loss.

How is the JDL in X? I have a Classic 310 with Kusala Black and i love it, wanted to try a CCXL since they are cheap and was looking at trying the JDL in it, is it super tip-active?
