I had it all planned out, been playing my best golf, had a week off for the 4th, staying near the beach at the inlaws, multiple rounds of golf scheduled at a beautiful,challenging track, lessons with the club pro................Sunday evening l'm getting a last round in on my local course before heading down,get my vacation started off right you know? I'm buzzing through, right around par after 7, playing solo, everyone's letting me play through but not too busy. Tee off on eight,looking good, pull up to hit my second shot, 130 left to the pin, here we go. Step out of the cart and, AAAAHHH! I step into a hole where the grass has completely hidden it and sprain the $#!* out of my ankle. Instantly I get that nauseous,bad taste in my mouth kind of cold sweat going, this is bad. I fear it might be broken, no shaking this one off. I stumble into the cart and use my left foot to gas it into the shade and survey the damage. I've sprained my ankles a bunch growing up but I'm a 44-year-old-slower-to-heal-wish-I'd-taken-better-care-of-myself-guy now, lot of scar tissue and calcium deposits in these stems now. I get my crap together and finish the round,tender but mobile,barely. After 18 my ankle was the size of an apple, had a harder time driving home than anything.I played 2 rounds last week at the inlaws, very poorly and regretting it both times, there was no point in the lesson.The Summer of Matt!

Hopefully, you'll be back on the course before too long. On Sundays, I usually park my car at the practice range, the reason that I can usually sneak on the fourth hole, after the chosen have played. They finish up on 2, 6, and 9, so they tie up the course until 1:00 pm. Anyhow, my buddy was shagging balls when I got there, and he tells me, he had just fallen into a chuck hole, and crashed down on his knee. He was hunting for errant shag balls on the edge of unmowed weeds. I could see he was in pain, he said he was going home to ice his knee. I talked to him yesterday, and he tells me he's a lot better, but probably will go to the doctor.

He should have gone to the ER Sunday, but I would probably not have gone either. All you lawyers out there, are accidents like that a potential personal injury cases. Just wondering.

I worry about falls and incidents like your's and my pal. Stuff is just waiting to happen.

That you heal quickly and are back on the course sooner rather than later!!

And no, stepping in a hole on the course is not a personal injury case(At least in PA- our club was a defendant in one and it was thrown out ).

Matt I feel your pain. A few years ago I was in a 2 month work sabbatical and stubbed my toe severely on my coffee table. It was just a few days before a 2 week golf trip to Canada. I was playing great at the time and was soooo ready to take on a bunch of nice courses. I played hurt and high on advils the whole time, so I didnt play well at all. It just wasn't the same and after the trip I was out of commission with my leg propped up for two more weeks just thinking about my wasted sabbatical. Debilitating golf injuries suck.

Oh man that sucks. Just keep the pressure off it....wait wait what am I saying...I meant to say take full advantage of not being able to do anything and especially take advantage of your wife....I mean hunny I need this, baby can you get me that advantage...and then moan when you try to do it yourself..

yes i am with you. one year in particular i was so looking forward to playing golf, i was swinging better than ever and one night i wake up to find my shoulder slipped out of socket. i had prior shoulder dislocations so it was nothing new, but the new part was it didn't occur when i fell.

this year i tried to revamp my swing and from all indications, most likely tore my rotator cuff. three weeks without the sticks and it stills hurts with certain movements.
