Gave up on the SLDR koolaid.....going on a new driver quest.

As a lefty, I have bought many clubs to test and tinker with. Have fun and enjoy the process. I went the other way. I had an XTD and it didn't work for me. Got fit for a Veylix Alpina 673 shaft, put it in the 430, and so far, this combo is working well for me. I totally understand that the SLDR is a niche club and doesn't eork for everyone. Not sure why some people struggle to understand this.

Update: purchased a Adams XTD ti 9* with the stock Matrix 6q3 shaft, and had a Speeder TS 6.2x with a R1 tp tip waiting in the wings in case the 6q3 didn't work out. I actually liked the stock 6q3 shaft a bit better as it felt a little better with a bit more kick, and with this head just overall worked better. I hit some good shots with the XTD and while I do feel it is a bit more forgiving than the SLDR, I was not 100% sold on the performance......no issues as I knew a Ping i25 8.5* was on the way to give the XTD a run for its money.

Went out last weekend with both drivers to play 18 and hit both side by side. Needless to say, the XTD is officially out and going to EBay as it just got its butt kicked by the Ping i25. I hit these clubs side by side 5x and not only did the Ping win every time, it was anywhere from 5-23 yards longer on good swings. I am pretty excited about the i25 and have a Veylix Rome 688x and the TS 6.2x both with Ping adapters waiting to be tested in this head. The i25 I purchased had the stock pwr 75 stiff shaft, so it was a bit whippy for my swing, which produced a slightly higher than desired ball flight, but still low spin as I was getting some great roll out. I am going to have the stock shaft tipped a bit as well in case the other 2 don't work well with this head. I actually hit one of the longest drives I have hit in a long time with the i25.....and it was with a high cut.....never had a high cut ball flight roll out as much as this club. I was planning on demoing 2-3 other drivers, but I think I may just call it good with the i25........hell, I may even buy another i25 just to keep as a backup.

As far as comparing the i25 and the SLDR,......no question to me, the i25 is a better driver....more forgiving, more roll out, and better distance. Looks wise, I loved the look of the SLDR and after having it tweaked by my club builder, it had a phenomenal sound and feel......just flat out was not as good a driver as the i25 for me.

Bio cell pro. You will thank me. Best driver I have hit in a LONG time. This thing is the game changer that the 510tp was years ago.

Too many people will not try Cobra because they are a smaller company no matter how great the product. Unfortunately, I am one of those people!

I may also still take a look at the Bio Cell Pro as like most everyone here, I am a self admitted club ho. I did have a chance to look at the new G30 a few days ago and I think it looks pretty good personally.....like the look better than the G25 personally. Really like the i25 Veylix Rome combo, but the G30 with that same shaft would possibly be lethal.

I know people like to pimp the stick they have in the bag, but I have to give a shout to the Cally RFE with a black tie.

I now have 5 family members playing it after they tried mine (well, 2 of them have the stock Aldila shaft, but they are in their 60's). My brother on the other hand plays all Titleist and is about a 2 index, kicked out his D3 in 9 holes, my XHP in 18, and my cousins R1 Black in 18. I hit it easily 10-15 yards farther than my XHP and just as accurate, maybe more so.

I picked up a 4w since and it is looooong with a whiteboard 82.

They are cheap too.

That Veylix is a sick shaft....weight will mess with some people, but once you trust it...BOOM!!

I've never seen a club that flies straighter than these G30's. That being said, it still makes baby fades and draws quite easy. The only thing I'm disappointed about is why I didn't give the other Ping drivers a shot, especially in the last few years, especially the G25.

I agree, I used to play the G2 way back in the day, and hit it a country mile. (Also had a lot more club head speed back then). The i25 is my first Ping driver since that club, and I really like it so far. So much so that it has me wanting to try the G30 with that same Veylix shaft.

Congrats, it sounds like you found your perfect driver. But if you still have some of that cash left in your paypal and you still want to experiment a bit, the Ping Anser is an unbelievable club.

I agree 100% on the Anser. I had one, but just could not control it as well as my R1....it was easily 10-15 yards longer than my R1....and both had the exact same shaft...Ahina 70x , so it was legitimately longer. Now that my swing is a bit more grooved with the driver, that might be a good test to try....Anser vs I25

Can't explain the G30 technology, but I no longer have a 10-20 yard fade as my slight miss and a 20-30 yard slice as my big miss. They just don't exist any more with this club. And, this is the standard G30, not the anti-slice SF head. Everything is pretty much fairway straight ahead or a slight draw. The only occasional miss now is losing 10-20 yards but still in the fairway.

The thing is, i can still make Par with this new G30 miss and even an occasional birdie. Whereas, my previous misses left me with a challenge for par and almost no chance for birdie.

I kinda hate it when people pimp what they choose to play. That being said, I have no explanation as to why this technology is so straight so often. Never played anything like it. I assume a big part of it is the extremely low and rearward CG and the new harder face material. The MOI on these heads must be pretty amazing.

Go BBA. The club is great looking along with the Fubuki shaft. I threw my Speeder in the BBA after I bought it to replace the Fubuki and ended up putting the Fubuki back in because of how great it is. I will be going Fubuki in the 915 D3 when that debuts
[/quote]

Just curious, if the BBA is soooo great, why are you already talking about the shaft you are going to be using in your 915 when it gets released???....

Just sayin......
