Finally, jumped off the bogey train!

Had a pretty lame stretch of golf over the last month or so. Just could not seem to put two solid 9's together. Today everything just clicked together well enough to cruise thru 18 and put up my best number of the year with a 74. Very happy. Drove it well, irons and wedges were decent and my short game was solid. Still had some misses, but if the putter got hot it could've been great.

 

Anyone else buck a trend lately on the course? Hopefully the good play continues tomorrow for my birthday round at Kings North in MB!

I'm happy for you bPi. I had a boatload of bogies this weekend
so I guess that puts me on the bogie boat. Have to watch out for
sharks before I try to jump off and them it's a 10 mile swim back
to shore. This isn't going to be easy.

Nice round. For myself and my goals, I find bogey is not too bad....it's the doubles, triples and quads that are impossible to recover from (on the score card and psychologically going to the next hole).

Awesome round, glad it finally fell into place. Had a little golf excursion myself this weekend and keyed in on a swing plane issue I've had for months. I've been incredibly inconsistent with the driver and scores have been all over the place...anyhow, I made a little change during the warm up and absolutely crushed it all weekend. Only time I missed was when I rushed and got off balance a little, was able to fix it immediately. Golf is fun again!

The bogey boat is not a bad boat really. Assuming you bogey EVERY hole you're still in at around 89-90's. According to data from the National Golf Foundation, only 26% of all golfers shoot below 90 consistently on regulation 18-hole courses; 45 percent of all golfers average more than 100 strokes per round. A player who shoots 85 is doing better than nearly three out of four of his golfing peers -- a good score. Making a few pars per round is very easy so this bogey boat is a good boat! However, sprinkle a double or triple and that boat sinks quickly

Ah, but you birdied the last hole to leave a good taste
in your mouth. If I started +7 thru 5 I don't think I could
save an 80. Good on you for grinding it out. Only +1
over the last 13 with 2 doubles from mis-clubs. There's
still a lot to be happy about.

I've had a stretch of play where i've made very few birdies, but on Saturday i played 27 holes and made 6 birdies....that felt great. I hadn't made 3 birdies in a round in maybe 15-20 rounds. On Saturday i made 4 in my first 11 holes

feels nice!

This is the stretch I am in right now... I seem to only be making 1 birdie a round. Just not able to tuck my irons close to the hole and longer putts simply aren't falling. It's frustrating but my scores are also fairly solid right now so it's not like I'm hitting it poorly. Just not putting it close to the hole (3 of my last 4 rounds were in the 70's and all are on 135+ slope rated courses.. as a 5 index that isn't too bad)

I have just started to get back into golf this year, and decide to focus and really improve. Been on WRX for just under a month now, and yesterday was my first time out that I really felt "in the zone" on the golf course. Most of my practice is done on the practice green chipping and putting, I need to scramble well to shoot well. The rest of my game finally came together. I'm happy with my grip, stance, ball position, preshot routine, takeaway, swing, and confident in the equipment I'm using. The only this that doesn't work for me is my driver, which is 9 degrees. My swing and ball placement is the same for all my clubs (just slightly forward of center). With the driver I can't get into a groove to launch it on the upswing...I like to hit everything on the downward swing. This has me taking the driver out of the bag and taking 3W off the tee. My next purchase I think will be a "mini" type driver, 12-14deg.

8 pars, 6 bogeys, and 4 birds. Thats what I'm talking about my kinda card. I had 6, 6, and 6 3 weeks ago.
