Need help immediately!

Hey guys! I'm getting more serious in the game and trying desperately to improve my ball striking but struggle severely with early extension.

 

 

Here are 3 of my shots (in high def) that were recorded today, please help me out! I want to work on it tomorrow at the range!

I really feel like I can improve my ball striking dramatically my fixing this! Thanks!

Standing a little close to the ball and hips thrusting to the ball to create (opposite effect) some space.

Doesn't look like there is too much steepening of the shaft, but hard to tell in the dark.

Stand an inch or two farther and try this feel.

Brilliant, I will have to work on this all day! Monte, how long do you think it will take me to fix this issue?

- I really see this issue screwing up my longer irons and not so much my shorter irons.

Also I'm sorry about the lighting, I will try to go outside for the next time I record.

Your swing is really good, your hips just don't know what to do.

Shouldn't take long. Somewhere between 10 balls and a few range sessions.

If you are extending early what is your miss that you are trying to deal with? Or are you just trying to get more distance/better contact?

I recently lost my swing completely and am wondering if it has do do with the same issues as OP.
Will definitely try this drill.

well my misses are weakly struck balls - ironically. but yeah im trying to improve my overall striking - hopefully by next year i can play some tournaments

Hmmmmm....... "Need Immediate Help" posted at 0130. EE assistance Via Monte at 0147 an 0152. Less EE and 185 yard 7-irons at 1745!

Yes definitely monte deserves the big paycheck and even more! but not because of the distance... if anything i was hitting it further before, but the consistency and improvement is really the best part!

Unfortunately Monte and golfwrx - I don't have the $200 as a broke grad/med student with aspirations to play competitive amateur golf, but I will keep updating the progress and hopefully more people (with mone will goto Monte for help!

FYI this is at white deer run where todd sones teaches, if anyone in the area wants to golf - let's meet up!

Additionally, it seems like my distances and performance goes drastically down with the longer clubs. For example, I only carry about 198-200 with the 5 iron, and I only carry about 245 with my driver.

Any thoughts with this swing?

With your 7-iron numbers sounds like you might want to consider Q-school vs Med School! Regardless I trust you'll give out some free exams down the road to pay it forward! It's gotta be tough for a pre-med to play any kind of competitive golf!

185 yard 7's (down from your more EE days?) and then 198 5's "could" be an equipment issue. Have you had your lofts checked lately? 245 Drivers sound like another fitting issue. Surely you have the speed but something isn't fitted properly.

I'm not sure many fitters will give you the free "I'm a broke med school student" rate..... but it might be worth an equipment check.

Haha yes! I wish someone would give me the free "broke med school student" rate - I would definitely take a year from going to school and just focusing on my game... but who wouldn't???? lol

Yeah i checked my driver swing speed - its around 104.5-106.... but it should get back up to hs days (108-110)... I only picked up the game again about a month ago from a long hiatus - but I've really been wanting to get better!

And I really appreciate the compliments and encouragement, however when i go visit my friend at tournaments (who happens to be tied for 4th right now at the barracuda), it really makes me just want to improve!

Why not, you do have some free time. I did and so did others in my class. You have to have some sort of other hobby or you will go crazy.

Ok guys, so heres an update:
In terms of ball striking, things have gotten marginally worse, but a few weeks ago I was just puring everything - now i'd be lucky to pure one ball out of a bucket. In addition, I'm hitting 5-10 yard draws and my distance isn't as good. In this video I hit the 6 iron about 185 into a small gust (not sure if you guys can hear it)

I'd love to hear your feedback, esp monte's!

In addition, there is a little bit of left wrist pain

If anyone's in the chicagoland area, hit me up!

One thing i noticed is your losing spine angle. Your butt/hips are pushing toward the ball. Note the difference from address to contact
