Custom Putter Covers

Have you ever had some made? Picture are in of h/c's.
Has anyone ever had their own covers made? I have a batch in with AM&E, that should be back by the end of the month. I have some valuables pouches and standard covers in ultra leather in the order. I attempted to digitze my own logo and decided paying for that would be a better route  The only issue was that took a month for them to do.

I will post pictures when they come in (if they look good ;) )

my mom owns an upholstery shop and can get really high quality leather and fabric for a good price. I showed her a SC cover and asked her if she would be able to make something similar, and she said that she could. I am going to have her make a few for me and friends. I will post some pictures wheb I get them to see if anyone here would be interested in buying one. I think she can make them for around $15-20 a piece.

OK, many questions for many posts in the thread.

Does you mom do digitizing of the logo into a DST file? DST file is the embroidery file format that the sewing machines can use to make the cover. My covers are a logo, and not just text. Does anyone know if AM&E will keep the DST file that they made for me? I do not plan on shopping my covers around to other makers, I was just curious.

The web site with the custom covers is very cool, thanks for posting that. I went through a local golf course to have the order submitted. The digitization fee is $25-$100 depending on the complexity of the logo. I do not know what mine was since I have not gotten it back yet...

I am working on a putter design (not so original) in a solid modeling and analysis product, and hope to get it CNC'ed. I have just started to do some analysis of the design. I want to see if I can predict face balance of the analytical model, and do some analysis for the impact vibration to compare the predictions with experimental "feel". I originally thought that it was purely a mass problem, but it looks like the hosel design has a definite affect on the amount of vibration that is transmitted up the shaft during impact. I have never seen any work in this area, and it is most likely beyond the capability of most shops, and even if they did do the work, they probably do not want anyone else to know. My work is centering around two hosel designs. If I can get the putters made to the solid model spec, then I can verify the analytical results.

I will post when I get it done and have something in my hands. I have done a lot of work with loudspeakers and now I have turned to putters to play around with. Has anyone ever heard of vibration analysis of putters to correlate to "feel"?

nameongolf and 90% of the others use AME because they own the patent that will expire soon. All GolfWRX headcovers are done by AME. The digitizing fee is what AME would charge. You send them a gif or jpg and they will convert it.

AME is backed up with tournament orders right now so logo art work is taking quite longer than usual to get things out. 4-6 weeks is the usual turn around.

I was wondering why it took so much longer than they said

I called to check to see if it was on its way and they told me the logo had just been approved ;)

At least I will have my DST file with them to eliminate that delay (and setup fee) in the future.

That would be great it they do the conversion. Most companies send it to AME to be digitize. Digitizing patterns is not easy or simple and you need the templates to adjust for size. They said you would get the dst?

I think I have confused the conversation. AM&E did my digitzation. I gave up after I started looking into doing it, myself. $100 was worth it for me to not have to screw up the logo :cheesy:

They did not say I would get the DST, I was wondering if I would. I doubt I would, I was just checking since I did pay them to do it. I did not ask when I placed the order since AM&E will most likely be the only place I order the stuff from.

I need to find someone who'll copy the Yes! putter headcover style. I have an extra to use as a pattern.

82_1.JPG

Their covers protect my tour putters much better than the open-ended style Cameron uses. I find they're easier on & off, too. Problem is, the materials used in the Yes! covers is inferior: I've had the lining of two shred in just 2 months.

It would be nice to have plain covers made out of best quality materials in the heel & toe protecting style. I inquired twice at AME but they never responded.

That would be a Copyright infringement, I believe.

I'm not interested in the logo, just the headcover that protects the heel of the putter.

hmm...I think my mom could probably do it. She has the leather, and I'm looking around to see what can be used for lining. I would like to find some high quality furry stuff that is used inside of the AME covers, but may also go with padding and suede.

The only thing is that she doesn't have an embroidery machine, so she would not be able to do any names or logos. Can you give me the dimensions of the Yes! cover? (every side and stitch if possible)

I went through nameongolf and had 2 covers done....

First one was a Myrtle Beach outing headcover and mine was the proto they increase the size of the SC logo of the others and it looked great!!!

Second was just tigerpaw cover I had made... I wanted to do 2 paws on the side like walking but didn't turn out that way but it still turned out great.

PM your address and I'll mail the headcover to you.

Then your Mom can cut the stitching and use the panels for patterns.

Asleep,

You are correct, the open ended style putter covers do not protect a putter. Unfortunately, most putter brands followed Cameron's mistake by making open back putter covers.

The YES-style you have photographed offers much better protection.

There is a chain down in the Southern California desert, called Lumpy's Golf, they have three or four stores. They've got the YES style putter cover in black vinyl, generic no name. It is good quality, big velcro patch on the inside, plus fur lining .They keep them on display near the cash registers.

www.lumpys.com There is a store in La Qunita, Ca. and one in Cathedral City, Ca. The covers are not on their web site, but if you called the stores I believe they would have them for you.

These guys have a bunch of covers with a front opening to protect the heel.

I have the Shamrock one and the Dollar one. The quality isn't quite as nice as AM&E, but it is still pretty good and they protect the putter better.

The Hogan/Bettinardi covers have the velcro on the front, so the back is enclosed and does a much better job of protecting the heel and hosel (like the Yes cover pictured above). I too wish most headcovers were made in this style.

I would suspect the Cameron style headcover is made that way so that you can grab the end where the toe of the putter is and pull it back out of the cover. The other style is much harder to get out. This is the first one of this style that I have had, and I am not sure why the Cameron style does not protect the hosel. I can see where it is open a bit, but what is going to hit it? I store the putter in the top of the bag by my drive with the iron toes facing the opposite direction so nothing can hit the hosel. Am I missing something else that will hit the hosel?

Still no word on my covers or my Fleetwood :D any day, any day

The covers and pouches have apparently arrived. I need to pick them up tonight. I will see if I can snap some decent pictures of them to post.

Picked up the stuff at lunch and they did turn out pretty well. I will post pics tonight when I get home. It was a fun project, now I have to get back on my putter project. If there were only more hours in the day and less to do :russian_roulette:
