The person I bought the lot from came over today with the 3 missing Wood Bros, the owner of the clubs was a retired pro and had shafted the pw, 9 iron and 5, 5 still in plastic and the 9& pw show minor wear, pretty cool to gt the entire set with WB shafts

He also brought buy a set of Mac PCB tour irons, 3-pw, a set of Mizuno MP14 1-pw & 2 Faldo sw to go with set and a set of Titleist Tour Model Forged on back of head 1-pw

So much for culling the herd

Thanks for that one Dan- I clean it with WD-40 now and then and use Hoppes #9 gun oil on it. I do not think it was ever in a lake because the shaft is not rusted and the grip was dry rotted. I think it was neglected in someone's storage shed or basement here and throw out. I found it at work in one of the scrap bins that came from Goodwill. I believe someone donated it and they just scrapped it due to it being rusty. Heck I like the thing and can putt the lights out with it. Sorta fits my persona to a tee. Love the looks on the proper newest latest greatest thing crowd's faces when they realize that rusty relic is a genuine Scotty. The sole is badly pitted and I had checked and it was going to cost $$$$$ to restore it and besides it was too light anyhow so the lead tape covered all that up. My running partner Bo Bear calls it "That Rusty SOB Scotty" I am going to see if I have some pics in the file of what it looked like when I got it

Here is after

I found a pic of the sole without the lead tape note how pitted it is

Heck that's not bad! A Coke bath, some 0000 steel wool and a healthy application of 3 in 1 oil and I would be willing to bet it would be pretty sweet looking. Then you would really have a story to tell as folks looked at a Scotty that came from a scrap bin and was brought back to life. It would almost be worthwhile to go back to the Goodwill and say; see what you throw out! Big mistake! Huge!

This is not unlike how I acquired my MnBz PING Zing; pulled out of a unclaimed barrel in our cart barn. A little elbow grease and some Barkeepers Friend to get rid of the corrosion, a new grip and presto, a perfectly usable putter that works beautifully and looks as though it has been in my bag for years!

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

omg stu- thats one rusty santa fe! much worse than i pictured, the problem with most of the early scotties is the finish was not durable . amazing you got it for free tho. hard to even recognize it in the pics as a cameron. yea forget about restoring it-just game it and enjoy it. i found a scotty in a bag of flea market clubs once -cost me 3$

LOL I gamed it the day after I found it and had not cleaned it up except for the sole where the lead tape would stick. Did that on a dare from Conrad 1953 from over in the grille section of the 19th hole forum. Darn thing was so rusty that the rust would fly when putting. I also snagged a raggety putter cover from the lost and found to keep the rust out of the top of my new bag which was white at the top. Played 9 holes that day with 14 putts. took it home and got the rust off with PB Blaster and steel wool. the grip was so rotten that I found a roll of electrical tape in the truck and taped it before the round. The round was a spur of the minute thing. Those guys were laughing at me before the round with their shiny new putters after the round they were not. Heck scrap was down at the time so I paid 0.04 scrap price for it. My standard grip is the old Royal Cord standard putter grip that I had bought several of them on close out for $1 each. LOL I have $1.04 in a Scotty putter even if it is rusty. Made $20 the first 9 holes with it!!

Some late 60s Top-Flite Professionals. Not in great shape obviously, but only cost 1 NZ dollar...

Holy Crap! Those are the famous 67/68 "Bird on the Ball" ones In my area they were one of the holy grail sets of the time a lot of good players and golf hustlers hit those. I have not seen a set of those models in years. I can find Executive irons of that time frame but the Top Flites are hard to find. Great discovery there my friend!!

CC those tour blades, WOW! It appears they were hardly even played.

BigStu are you kidding me man, I've been dreaming of picking up a Cameron for a hundred bucks or less for years and you get one for $1.04, unbelievable!

SteveNZ good looking Spaldings, I recently picked up a set that I think are a few years after those.

Par, I sold so many of those Cobra's win they were new. Very underrated! I still see those in play quite a lot today.

Picked up a couple of vintage bags (Walter Hagen Professional & Hot Z), Play Day cart and Mac Great Scot MS8 sand iron. Both bags have excellent condition rain cover and matching club head covers with the Hot Z bag.

Be prepared for that "...distinctive Titleist feel and click...."

Rex, this is my second dozen Titleist Tour Balata 100 compression balls. I may search for another dozen or two later on. This was the ball I gamed back in the late 80s and into the 90s. I loved the feel of balata and could really make the ball move, especially drawing/hooking balls. I am certain that the compression is a wee bit below 100. :D

Here is the 693 driver from the set I just received. It's not a deep face 693 measuring about 1 5/8" but it still is a beauty!

Great 693!

Had some very fond Titleist golf ball memories as well, but they were pretty much trampled by their sales representative regarding LH golf equipment.

Thanks Rex. I will be on the lookout for an outstanding 693 3 wood with original shaft and original leather grip. Once I get that I will send the set to Dave Wood for refinish. I also have a M09 LFF I got this past Spring that I will be sending in. I am still on the lookout for a Tourney C shaft that is in excellent condition as the shaft in the M09 LFF is pitted pretty bad. I don't really care what grip is on it as long as it is the original leather or chord.

Are those LH golf balls? @Rex

Too bad they have the asterisks. The non-asterisk ones were thought to be too hot by The USGA and Titleist had to take the heat out of them and then only the asterisk ones were legal for play.
